Editing Stock Traffic BGL

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Is it possible to edit the stock P3Dv4.5 traffic bgl in order to remove the default commercial traffic? I'm running my own AIG commercial lineup but I also want to keep the default GA traffic. I want to keep my commercial slider at 100% for the AIG traffic and not have to look at Orbit, Pacifica, etc...

I can install UT Live for GA coverage but the aircraft look very FS5-ish. So unless there's another GA setup out there, I'd like to keep the default GA.

Thanks!

Brian

You could do this. Make up a back up of the original traffic.bgl in case you make a mistake.

You’ll have to decompile the defaul traffic bgl,  which leaves three text files, Airplanes, Flight Plans, Airports. Edit out the airplanes and flight plans you don’t want and recompile.

Proabably easiest to do using AIFP or other freeware traffic tools.

There might be a traffic file like this already on the web that someone has already done. Could be other options as well that I’m not aware of.

AIFP is the way to do it. Just select the aircraft you want to remove, confirm delete and answer yes to delete associated flight plans. AIFP will re-number the plans so you just have to compile and you're good to go. I use it after every content upgrade.

So I'm guessing AIFP is the modern day Traffic Tools...sounds straightforward enough. Thanks gents!

Yes and a lot more powerful than TTools.

Downloaded AIFP and had everything resolved in 5 minutes. An awesome piece of freeware. Thanks again!

Do I need to repair these errors before compiling. If so, how?

Thanks.

I just ignore them, way too many to fix. I tried to do a bulk select one time years ago and ended up with a file that wouldn't compile. Good thing I had a backup, especially in the FSX days. It's also possible Don has made changes to the prog by now but I still get lots of traffic so really a non-issue for me.

The other thing I am slowly doing is changing out planes for the ORBX freeware ones. Have done only the Mooneys so far, just couldn't take the golf ball navs any more...😉

I suspect that some of those "departure schedules before or very close to arrival time of previous leg" issues are intentional workarounds, because absolute perfection with the default ATC system is not possible. Like Gerald, I just ignore them when I see them. My own AI flightplans (based on flights in and out of the UK and Ireland, plus a handful of other airports not far away) have all been compiled with AIFP.

After re-compiling trafficaircraft.dll I opened it just to see what it kept and most of the GA airplanes were gone. I only deleted the red (not found) and the commercial ones.

I'm just hoping AIG can release a GA & military package soon. I know that they are in the process of adding the free AI Sound package. Maybe one day we will have excellent airline, GA, and military models, great sounds, and nice lighting effects all in one package.

We are almost there.

If you want Military AI, go to MAIW and get Matrix (if using P3d v4). It's freeware and really is incredible.

After deleting commercial airliners and re compiling I still hear default airliners. What did I do wrong?

I'm seriously considering UTL with MAIW. UTL doesn't use the bgl method (faster loading) and allows for the use of updated liveries. My only concern is, will I be able to use the freeware AI Sounds?

Thanks.

Yes, they are still simobjects so behave exactly the same provided they have a sound folder and are either aliased to the sound.cfg or have a sound section
