Microsoft said in their 22nd August update "we’ve got curved/sloped runways in the next iteration of Microsoft Flight Simulator".

Microsoft seems to read these forums, so Microsoft, what do you mean exactly?

Does Microsoft mean that the 20,000+ "generic" airports in FS2020 have runways that conform to the underlying slope of the terrain and thus will "undulate" or "slope", just like the generic airports in X-Plane?

Or does Microsoft simply mean that there will be some "custom" airports that have been hand crafted to have sloping/undulating runways?

Microsoft please confirm unequivocally whether the 20,000+ "generic" airports in FS2020 will have sloping/undulating runways like in X-Plane.

How about a screenshot of some "generic" airports that demonstrate FS2020 really has sloping/undulating runways?

I believe they already put the sloped runway controversy to bed. Sooner or later we will get answers to every sloped runway questions you have. We all know they read the forums so maybe they will throw you a carrot with a detailed mention of it tomorrow.

Overscaled autogen houses and trees?

Can Microsoft show a screenshot from FS2020 of the auto-gen, single storey houses and trees, to confirm that their have not gotten the scaling wrong again like in P3D/FSX?  How about a street level view near the airport in Page AZ, along Sage avenue.  In Google street view those houses are small single storey dwellings. But in the Aug 22 update there was a screenshot from about FL300 and the houses look very large.

I fear that Microsoft will make the same mistake they made in FSX and P3D where the autogen house and trees are ridiculously over-scaled and look comical, with every house the size of warehouses and trees the size of Redwoods.

Please Microsoft, the world is mostly populated with small, single storey houses and small trees.  Don't make FS2020 like a bad re-run of "Land of the Giants".

Maybe in some parts of the USA everyone is living in "McMansions" but try flying around Asia in Google Earth, especially cities like Manila and notice the compact houses and "slum" areas.  Can you please make an effort to get the scaling right this time?

Unfortunately I got banned for 2 days and was not able to post in the sloping runways thread before it got closed.

The 22nd Aug update was very vague and I don't believe they have answered the question.

The question is not whether there are any airports with sloping runways but whether ALL "generic" airports have some degree of sloping/undulating runways as is the case in X-Plane and "real-life".

Dear Microsoft 😀 Should you happen to be reading this, which I very much doubt, please post the Thursday updates at 9 - 11am your time, rather than last thing.

Currently, those of us over the other side of the pond have to either stay up very late or wait until Friday morning to read them.

I have a gut feeling tomorrows update is going to be a rather large one.  Looking forward to finding out if I'm right or not.

Microsoft made mistakes in P3D? I thought that was LM....

May all your landings be safe ones!

Well I mean, LM was constrained in P3D by the design mistake made by MS in FSX/ESP, so we ended up with comically oversized autogen in FSX and P3D.

I saw a screenshot from FL690 and the grass looked like Fescue when it should be Kentucky Bluegrass.

I fear that M$ isn't taking grass as seriously as weeds and I want confirmation that ALL the grass types are represented, not just some handmade fields.

If M$ leaves grass modeling up to 3PDs, the result is going to be FAILURE. I dont want comically incorrect grass in my simulator!

Anyone who's ever walked barefoot on that stuff they call "grass" in Florida knows how important this is!

Unfortunately because of a design limitation in FSX/ESP (and thus P3D) it was not possible for 3rd party developers to implement correctly sized autogen houses because the height of the dwellings was "hardcoded".  Thus products from developers like Orbx still feature the same comically oversized autogen houses.

However, please give me your valuable analysis of the FS2020 SDK when it is released and let me know if MS has done better this time. Of course, by the time they release the SDK it will be too late to make changes.

Shall we just burying our heads in the sand and hope for the best?

Funny how the stock buildings in P3Dv4 are the proper scale in my game.  I test this by taxiing near one then going to avatar mode.

Maybe the problem is Orbx.

You are mistaken. There has been much discussion about the oversized autogen (houses and trees) in FSX/ESP/P3D.

If you wish to educate yourself take a look at this post

I read that when it was first posted.

Have you ever actually landed near STOCK buildings in P3Dv4 to check out the scale?  It may have something to do with autogen density.

I do remember seeing oversize buildings once upon a time, but they aren't there now.

Yes I have. Nothing has changed. Maybe the autogen you remember as being oversized was "regenerated" (like with a scenery library reload) and the new instance doesn't exhibit the same mix of buildings.

Here's Page AZ in Google Maps:-

Find some single storey autogen houses (with the correct height) like that in P3D.... You won't be able to.
