AI traffic was mentioned as being turned off during the event in Seattle that everyone was flying.  They will have a system that will use real time AI traffic which is what we saw in the E3 trailer but they are working on it and it was turned off for now.

ATC was specifically mentioned as something they were just now talking about and that it’s very complex and they were looking at ways to possibly have regional voices with their sound people.  Nothing on ATC is set in stone and sounded like it was lower on the priority list.

They also mentioned that they were making a priority list based on feedback they’ve been seeing recently.  The number one on the priority list he said is VR support and they are looking at it because they didn’t really plan it before but he said it was clear that was a high priority based on feedback.

I agree these should be HUGE question marks for just about all of us.

Even with simple VFR Flight, there is lots of communications - even on an intro flight. Unless one is flying out of a farm field to do local crop dusting there is always some form of communications that play a gigantic part in flight procedures and safety.

Also, this new flight sim will get pretty boring fast without some AI & ATC activity/challenges especially if multiplayer is not a part of the experience at this time.

I can understand the complexity and depth of these and how MS wants to do things right, but it would amaze me if this new sim remains successful w/o AI and ATC.

Maybe the SDK will be complete enough to allow 3PP to finally do these two most important aspects, some very realistic and practical justice.

AI and ATC will be there for sure, but they're really things that just sit "atop" the core of world, weather, aerodynamics and cockpits. So it's no big deal that such items are deferred until later. You have to remember the product isn't even in Alpha (i.e. it's very much not feature complete), it's hard for the developers to give an answer when they haven't decided a spec themselves yet.

Regarding ATC, I really hope they end up shocking us with stock functionality beyond expectations in the same way that they have with the world simulation. For those of us who enjoy online ATC with PilotEdge, Vatsim, IVAO, etc., am I right in thinking that inclusion of Simconnect capability helps to facilitate those clients?

So the plan is wait for Nov 2020 release, have an unpolished SDK (maybe), take 1-2 years or more adapting to a changing SDK and hope that money falls off trees to fund these projects?  And this is going to be good how or is this entire "time travel" thing something we should have developed a long time ago?

Cheers, Rob.

Keep spreading FUD.

It’s obviously your only hope to stem the tide of conversions at this point.

My statement was in response to inaccurate information posted earlier which I have since confirmed to be false.

You might consider quoting who you were responding to in that case.

I was following the chain back and since you didn't quote anyone, it's not super clear who/what you were responding to and/or talking to or about, particularly if one is attempting to catch up after the fact.

Nice well written article. Looking fwd to its release.

And why would I want to do that?  Do you think commercial developers are allergic to the potential for drastic increase in customers that MSFS might provide?  Think again!  Most developers would probably be very happy to have a single dominant platform with a huge user base so we don't have to repeat our work multiple times with a slight twist for each platform (FSX, P3D, XP11, AF2, etc.).  You think we like having to do the same work for multiple platforms?

There is much mis-information and creative interpretation being tossed around and I probably should know better and just avoid it and stick to verifiable facts ... but no idea why you have an axe to grind towards me?  My statement was in response to inaccurate information posted earlier which I have since confirmed to be false.

Cheers, Rob.

I don't know why you choose to spread FUD about MSFS, but my best guess is that you view it as a threat, being so heavily involved with P3D.

The writing is on the wall.  P3D has nothing in the pipeline that can match the features of this new sim, and you of course know that.

There's no writing on the wall.  Prepar3D will continue to be developed and used in real world training long after this sim is released.

😉 sure there isn't.

I'm not saying P3D won't be able to find a niche to fill, but I guarantee you its marketshare will decline and MSFS will be to blame.

Bet your bottom dollar.

And yet Prepar3D will continue onward doing what it's designed to do.  Train.  That "niche" is not quite as small as you might think.

You don't know what I think, you can only infer based on what I convey.

Let's make some definitive statements then, shall we?

1) P3D will not cease to exist

2) MSFS will overtake its marketshare in the consumer space

3) P3D marketshare will, in a corresponding fashion, shrink

1. Correct

2. Incorrect, assumes that most simmers use only one sim.

3. Also incorrect due to #2.

Confident of this?

I'd be willing to wager something upon the premise.

Responding to another member in this thread is off-topic?  Then that member was off-topic to begin with, as I am disputing his statements.
