Leysin is right next door to me! I live down the mountain in Aigle 🙂  I know that building from my trips to Leysin!! Such a small world.

Indeed it is a small world in many respects. One of the things I loved about skiing there is that we could take the cable car to the top of the Berneuse, and then ski for hours all the way down to Aigle. We could then take the cog-wheel back to Leysin-Village and repeat the process if there was still enough time of course, otherwise we'd stop at Leysin-Fedey and ski back to the school's 2nd floor access on the downhill side of the building where we stored our equipment. I still have the trophies I won on slalom and giant slalom events.

As you may know, aside from radio our only source of news was to go to the local cinema and watch the news of the day. One day in 1966 we were watching the news and first heard that our climbing instructor, John Elvis Harlin II was killed by a fall while attempting to climb the Eiger with a very experienced team of mountaineers. Worst of all, John's lovely wife and two children were present in the theater. The projectionist shut down the newsreel while the entire school gathered around the bereft family and escorted them back to their lodgings.

That's a very sad story about John Elvis Harlin II. It must have been awful for his wife and family and everyone involved.

The old Aigle cinema is now closed I believe (or what I guess was the cinema). There's a new one open behind the train station since a number of years. I have lived in Switzerland for almost 9 years (Irish originally). Skiing down to Aigle must have been quite the experience when you studying there. The old cog trains still wind it's way hourly up to Leysin and Les Diablerets. There is a hotel management school there so it's usually carrying quite a lot of international students (and skiers :)). I do quite a lot of hiking and am regularly near Leysin on my walks. Last week I walked from Aigle to Sepey (about 3 hours) through the forest which sits almost directly under the town of Leysin which got its first heavy snowfall just over a week ago.

If you happen to come back and visit, please look me up and we can share a glass or two of Aigle white wine from one the many local vineyards!!

I just want the initial released product to be polished to a mirror shine.  If seasons aren't ready at launch, that's fine.  If VR isn't ready at launch, that's fine.  Heck, if they determine ATC needs an extra month in the oven at the last moment, that's fine.  Take your time, and do them right.

As long as the core sim experience is great, these augmentations on the experience can come when they are ready.

There's nothing wrong with being negative. Be as negative as you want, just don't be upset if people disagree with you.

Be careful you may get jumped on, this is the holly grail your talking about on this forum, you can say what you like on other forums.😎

No historic, blurry clouds, same old patchy clouds.

AI is live, masses of potential problems there. Then they said there will be secondary AI. This may very well be a half attempt for offline users and very restrictive.

Since there has been nothing posted from MS/ASOBO regarding whether weather will be only real-time or have "historic weather" as an option, any such conjecture is just that; conjecture.

The same is true of AI as well. The only thing we "know" is just what has been revealed to us. Trying to make any definitive claims beyond those bare facts is simply unsubstantiated conjecture.

I will wait a little longer for migrating ducks and now, hibernating bears 😏

I still don't understand how they will manage real winter weather in the Northern latitudes with summer ground but we'll see.

Seasons is a MUST have for me!

Prepare 3D is great w seasons and XP11 not having them has left that sim completely unused on my HDD...!

I don’t want to be flying in a snow squall in upstate New York’s while looking down at summer terrain!

No point in simulating winter weather at all without seasons!

I don't make this stuff up. It's been said by official sources. If it's not, I take no notice. Historic weather was not planned, AI was to be live with a secondary method of AI for offline use.

This is totally correct. There is selective vision and memory here. Anything bad they don't see it or know anything about it. It doesn't exist!

My ex wife, bless her, said two wise things to me:

1.) Surround yourself with positive people.
2.) Get out of my house.

Looks realistic to me when compared to real life footage.

Compare that to the official videos on Weather and Aerodynamics

I love seasons. I'm a Minnesotan.  We have all four of them (or maybe just Winter and Road Construction lol).  In the Twin Cities we'll typically have snow on the ground from December till March, and I mean snow covered roads, houses - from the air everything is white.

However, there is so much more to enjoy about flying, than flying in Winter or Fall alone.  I've decided I will purchase the new sim regardless if it has seasons or not.  Thankfully I'm an xp11 user, so I already have some experience without seasons.  Flying in the summer has a lot of positives.  Everything is green and beautiful, it's easy to pick out landmarks (vfr a joy), you have pretty clouds (and not so pretty T storms), the days are long with plenty of light.

To skip out on this version of flightsim due to the omission of seasons would be something I just couldn't do.  I'd be missing out on new flight dynamics, amazing atmospheric conditions, stunning lighting, photo realistic landscapes, and tons more.

Your thoughts on what your plans are?

Hi Ryan - I'm a Minnesotan, too.

I guess I'm already pre-conditioned for flying without seasons - as I have MegaScenery Earth for Minnesota installed (although its a little jarring when I cross  the border into WI, or land at FlightBeam's KMSP, and the seasons return.  I'll definitely make the switch!
