November 27, 20196 yr Had a discussion with someone about being able to see landmarks in the game, excuse me simulator. Specifically I was talking about the Wally World ( Walmart ) in my neighborhood, really only meaning that I should be able to recognize it by following the streets in my area and I know exactly where it is located right around the corner from me a few miles. Then he stated I would not actually see the sign on buildings, in this case the Walmart sign, because of USA trademark laws. Anyone have any idea if this would be true? I mean they have to remove every sign in the Bing Maps, is that true? Makes no sense to me, but I am not a lawyer. I mean you can see them in Bing Maps outside of the sim. And another question will the Azure data actually show us detail at that low of level detail? Sometimes you have to go into Birds Eye View in Bing Maps, but sometime you can see the signs in Aerial view. Just wondering, also will there be a way to turn on an overlay of say the interstate numbers and highways and road names? Just in case I get lost or am in an area not real familiar with, like most of the world? Aerial View Bing Maps See how the labels are turned on for the streets to verify I am in the right location! Excited about roads, interstates, highways, etc... looking real! Birds Eye View Bing Maps Like when I look for the KMEM airport I can't see the ATC Tower correctly until I go into Birds Eye View than it looks like the Seattle Needle in the trailers. No matter it's gonna be cool, I think 🙂 Really cool! November 27, 20196 yr That also brings up another question, how does payware scenery for the other sims get away with using trademarked imagery (logos etc)? Do they need to ask every company their scenery includes? Edited November 27, 20196 yr by Tuskin38
November 27, 20196 yr The AzureA.I algorythm as it can manage to delete pedestrians and resolve shadows under structures, it also probably recognize logos with fonts and blur em out
November 27, 20196 yr Does Microsoft have to pay to use the likeness of the Hollywood sign too? I remember reading that is an actual problem, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce owns it. It's why American Truck Simulator had to replace it in their game. https://hollywoodsign.org/filming-the-sign/ Edited November 27, 20196 yr by Tuskin38
November 27, 20196 yr I don't think thew will hide them. at 1:17 mark on the E3 trailer you can see a large McDonald's logo at top left.

I hope that don't have to remove them. Which trailer is it? I would like to see it. And in a few of the trailers you can see the Stadiums sponsors on top of them, as a matter of fact they made it a point to read them in the Seattle and Orlando area. And you know Vegas does not care as that us even in other sims, and surely they are not paying royalties for those? Almost all American Football stadiums mow have corporate sponsorship, and I doubt they want to hide them. I mean if you can ride in a car and see the signs, or fly in a real GA aircraft and see them and they are public, what's the problem? It's how we know we are at the right store, gas station, etc... having said that in all sim's the FedEx trucks DO NOT use their actual logo! They make up some goofy name for the FedEx trucks 🙂 "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ
November 27, 20196 yr I cannot imagine why, in this day in age a company would NOT want their logo in a game? I mean this is business 101, right? Free advertising? It's not like we can ram into the signs and break them... 😕

Otherwise we wouldn't know what fast food place we were stopping at 🙂 Don't see what the problem would be since they are public. Hey I might want to fly down and land at a Mickey D's ( McDonalds ) Yes I now you are not suppose to do that in real life 🙂 Which also makes me wonder, how far down, and at what angle will we be able to see things? Fly down super low and see the Wally World sign? Or in Florida the Disney World sign's and entrances, etc... I don't expect this cause it is not Truck Simulator, seeing those huge signs on the interstate telling you what's coming up 🙂 Now that is asking for too much? Guess the only way we will really see is when it is released or in videos and trailers? November 27, 20196 yr I don’t think that the publishers of the billions of photographies and videos that we can access, pay any fee to anybody. November 27, 20196 yr Author Sounds like everyone agrees we WILL see all the signs on buildings as long as Bing Maps & Azure can capture the data and parse it correctly? I sure hope so, and still hope we can either turn on labels for roads or at least make out most of the interstate, street, highway, etc... signs 🙂 "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ
November 27, 20196 yr I mean if they don't want their sign seen by other people, they probably shouldn't put it up in the first place. And I cannot imagine MS removing them by default unless instructed to do so.
November 27, 20196 yr An interesting thought. If you fly along a commercial street that has lots of stores, will you see the names, the signs? If you fly over NYC, will you see the marquees of Times Square?
