December 18, 20196 yr I think FS2020 will not be the last one, although as stated it will go on for a decade or so. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
December 18, 20196 yr As I'm sure you are aware, there is no series number attached to MSFS. It has been stated that, as this is so, it will be updated on a regular basis, for years to come, as Windows 10 will be, negating any need for a complete new release. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... December 18, 20196 yr Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm calling it FS2020 just to annoy you. They just said it will be developed for a decade or so. They never excluded that after FS2020, there couldn't be an hypothetical FS2030. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
December 19, 20196 yr Lol.. No problems.. It annoys a lot of others that could not be bothered to correct you. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

In all seriousness Wobbie, whats the deal with you and the name of this new sim? You ALWAYS make this into a huge mountain of an issue, in almost every thread you post in. It's understandable why many people call it FS2020 or MSFS2020 or some other version of that, as doing so makes it very clear which version of the sim they are refferring to. Doesn't matter if its what Microsoft officially calls it, the clarity of the reference is still very efficient. It's simple: you call it what you want and please allow others to call it what they want. It's not physically nor emotionally hurting you so please chill dude.

December 19, 20196 yr It's just a matter of respect to Microsoft to call it by its correct name. It's not too difficult for Avsimmers to do that, is it not? It's the arrogance of those who just decide that the official name is not good enough. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...

But its not arrogance, you are projecting your own personal feelings onto this. People aren't calling it that to insult MS or do any harm whatsoever, it's just the natural thing to call it given all of the previous incarnations of the franshise like FS2K4, FS98, etc. FS2020 seems perfectly reasonable to me even though its not the official name, because honestly simply calling it MFS is so incredibly vague given all the other incarnations. It's reasonable dude, not arrogant, to call it that. Just, relax man, let it go. Be happy people are excited for this new sim no matter what name they give it. In one year we will all simply be calling it MFS because its going to eclipse every other version of the franchise anyway!!! :)

December 19, 20196 yr The world has officially chosen FS2020 as the abbreviation to be used anyway: "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
December 20, 20196 yr I think it'll depend on how lucrative the post-release market is for Microsoft. An eventual new sim lets them charge a whole new base price again. However, if Asobo crank out lots of add-ons and other assets they can sell post-release for decent money, Microsoft will likely be happy to just continue along that route. Their games have also switched to a more "live service" model, getting consistent free updates subsidized with new revenue via microtransactions. In this case, it'd probably be more "macro" than "micro".

I never understood why MS left the addon market after around FS98(?) They had great addons like New York, Southern California, and the like. Plus, they certainly had some insider knowledge on optimizations and such. December 24, 20196 yr Oh dear this thread! You can't have FSX 2019 for a patch because the title was already named in the year it was launched I.e. 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X' as it states on the box. The community started using the shorthand 'FSX'. X-Plane follows exactly the same convention here, it's uses a product name 'X-Plane' followed by a numerical version number I.e. 11. Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn't have a year as it's intended to continually updated. But the community has placed one on the title '2020' to make it clear they are referring to the new simulator as it was advertised as coming out in 2020 in the initial press release for the announced product. This seems like a lot of fuss about absolutely nothing.
