I must have missed an argument or two. What, did someone get offended at my "Nyaa nyaa I get to play for free and you don't" and talked bad about my mama and threatened to come to my house and shave my cat? Did yet another person prove he doesn't have mSparks on ignore? I'm so confused. 🙂 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
February 17, 20206 yr I think it will be £40-60 to buy, or included in the game pass subscription (haven’t they basically confirmed all of this other than the actual price anyway?). I guess the price will be symptomatic of how they see and market the game - if it’s a ‘game’ then I think it will cost in the region of what I wrote above, if it’s a ‘platform’ then it may be a bit more.

I told *someone* I don't take them seriously so they should take their arguments somewhere else and the post got deleted. Funny that I AVOIDED a long winded argument but my post gets deleted and it is followed up with suspension threats. So be it. Do you think MSFS2020 online only scenery will good enough to pay a subscription for. Or would you be satiated with the level of detail already available for offline global scenery with accurately placed trees like you can currently pay Orbx for. I'm reasonably sure there is no complex middle ground there, and you and your friends went nuts and put me on ignore for daring to say that while I hope it is good, I thought it may very well end up being generally the later. For anyone not willing to pay anything for it whatever, MSFS2020 has absolutely nothing to offer. It will not be possible to pirate it and it will not be free. Why should we all of a sudden start to pay for it because it's implemented inside a game/sim? Makes no sense to me. That data is not free at all. It is only free to look at for end users, using the providers own website or client. That is free because they are a marketing tool. Some even have advertisments running alongside or even inside the client. But using the same data for commercial purposes is very expensive. There is a reason all those 3rd party GoogleEarth - sim connector tools were ultimately shot down. A commercial customer who wants to make use of the Maps data will have to pay a high four figures number every year, plus expenses for the actual data traffic. If you are interested, here are the terms of service for accessing the Google Maps API (which would apply if you want to use the data for anything): https://developers.google.com/maps/terms-20180207 My pet example is FlightAware. You can look at the traffic on their website for free. But accessing that data through their API is charged on a per-request basis. I wrote a client for that once, to inject live traffic in the sim. But running it amounted to $10 per hour when staying at a major airport, so I switched to a different data source. Best regards Edited February 17, 20206 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI

A post that I might take note of would be worded along the lines of "Microsoft have said that a one off purchase will be one of the options to get you the sim and they have stated that it will also be available as part of the Game Pass. What they haven't said is whether all the streamable data will be free of charge to those who choose the one off option. I think they will likely charge for it as it has a cost to them... etc etc. etc." In the interview they said... Quote -What is the difference between the two marketing models? -The subscription is for those who want to have access to other games for Xbox or PC. - Suppose I just want the simulator. If I buy anything more than the FS2020, do I also have access to streaming maps and other features? -Exact. Its a translation from Spanish, but I would interpret that as you get all the streamable data with that one off payment. I think Google translate missed the "don't" between "I"and "buy". We would have to ask a Spanish speaker if that's an accurate Google translation. Edited February 17, 20206 yr by martin-w

I have a 70mb line so should not have to wait hopefully to see the scenery in all its glory 🙂 Yep, I'm on 74 mbs so no issue. However, I'm moving to a different area some time this year, probably rural or semi rural, so might find myself with a slower connection. So 10 mbs is welcome.

Hope your price is right, but I would suspect it will be closer to £100. Hope not, but it might be the case, if it is, that many chose the Game pass option.
February 17, 20206 yr I hope there will be a really sweet collector's edition with a model of the 747 🙂 The shipping costs will be ridiculous but after all these years it will be worth it. Edited February 17, 20206 yr by Krakin 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.

Yeah, shipping a 747 to your door would be quite expensive, but where are you going to park it?

Ha, that would be an interesting direction for MS to take. Buy the sim for an extra special inflated price and you get a superb model of a 747. They could get into selling other merchandise too. Like Elite Dangerous sell models of space ships. There could be several model aircraft you could buy from the MS store, and not to mention T-shirts, caps, mugs and all manner of merch. 😁 What I wish they would do, is start manufacturing the Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick again. Great joystick. I still have one on my desk. Still works after all these years... although a bit wobbly. Edited February 17, 20206 yr by martin-w
