He's been doing this stuff for years. I'm actually surprised he survived as long as he did. Condolences to any friends and family.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

He was one of the only flat-earthers who actually tried to prove his beliefs, I admire him for that. Regardless of how wrong he was.

Darwin at work...

Or as Ron White would say, another example of the thinning of the herd...

If you get a chance watch the Rocketman documentary on Amazon Prime.  It's all about his journey.  Regardless of his beliefs, he was pretty ingenious.

He should probably win a Darwin Award. Or, at least, get a nomination...  https://darwinawards.com/darwin/  .

Can I ask - why?

It has been suggested that he didn't actually genuinely believe that flat earth nonsense, but was doing it for publicity. Certainly I do know he got some sponsorship for his rocketry projects, as evidenced by the stuff painted on the side of his launch vehicles and I know he was also the subject of a documentary, which itself brings the potential for financial rewards and further promotional opportunities. I don't know if it is true or not that he did not believe in that idiotic flat earth nonsense, but either way the end result has been the same; a bout of poor decision making at best, and at at worst outright stupidity, has resulted in his demise.

Ironically enough, one of his sponsorship deals, painted on the side of his vehicle, used the slogan 'it's not rocket science'. Sadly, some things actually are rocket science, including the sensible procedure of building and launching manned rockets via a program of analytical unmanned test flights in order to prove the concept - and the recovery systems it utilises - are as reliable as can reasonably be expected, before climbing aboard the thing to indulge in a manned flight, only to find that your recovery parachute has snagged on the launch platform, deployed and detached, leaving you on a short ride which is about to confirm something which flat earthers are wont to deny the existence of - gravity.

Being the contrarian, considered phenomenological as an object of experience or a qualia the earth is indeed flat. One may, based on collective reasoning infer that the earth as a thing in itself is round but for certainty a successful ontological strategy to get past sylopsism must be devised. Nah! it must also be Newtonian. Even the philosopher Kant do that.😛

I'm inclined to suppose that following the impact, he was a considerably flatter flat earther than had originally been the case. On the plus side however, this sort of high impact misadventure saves considerably on elaborate post-mortal frivolities, since one is literally dead and buried in the same instant.

Aside from the parachute being torn off by snagging on the steel ladder, he quite literally ran out of steam!

I should think the many thousands of balloon launches and the live video transmitted and recorded would be sufficient proof that the world is round...

I am not going to chuckle and gawk at what amounts to someone's snuff film.  If that makes me a wet sock at parties, so be it, jedi.  May the poor guy rest in peace.
