"Real weather" pollution?

So clean air slowly transforming into dirty air approaching large cities? And maybe even seeing the pollution over cities from altitude during cruise?

Does this affect night lighting too?

Excellent!

I don't think it is real pollution, real pollution is not at 3m above the ground...

According to the meteoblue website, that parameter is expressed in micrograms per square meter. It's probably just a label error in the menu.

Edit: Or maybe it's the "common air quality index" value, which is from 1-100.

Snow depth? Nice! I wonder how deep it can go.

hehehehe, who knows 😉 ;). wait, I'm mature.

Very cool we could set that.

And what about aerosol density? What does it mean in the sim? Visual pollution a few meters above the ground?

I’d love to see light sand/dust storms over the ground  in desertic areas. The KTNP addon for P3D has one nicely done. Visual only no real interaction with the aircraft but still nice.

It says Aerosol Density 3m, not height above ground.

But it is confusing.  Air pollution is usually measured in mass per cubic meter, or parts per million, or an air quality index.  https://air-quality.com/place/united-states/los-angeles/46a6d7be?lang=en&standard=aqi_us      So it is a confusing measurment.

As for snow. do we get wind drift, and wind drifted snow banks?

My brother has Coronavirus, confirmed by testing. On 3/26 he almost didn't survive the night.  He had extreme trouble breathing and was given a steroid inhaler.  He was very weak, had nausea, and other issues that aren't pleasant.  As of this update he is feeling much better, and seems he will be fine.  Stay safe out there.  (Updated 4/6)

Perhaps it's meant to be Aerosol optical depth as shown at the bottom of the Meteoblue page linked above?

It seems the best guess so far, nice find.

"Aerosol optical depth
The optical depth is a measure of how well electromagnetic waves can pass through a medium. Therefore, the aerosol optical depth is the measure for the reduction of light transmission caused by atmospheric aerosols. It describes the total light extinction in the vertical atmospheric column, which depends on the light's wavelength and the amount of atmospheric aerosols. The greater the value of optical depth, the greater the aerosol concentration. Sources of aerosol can be diverse: wild fire, desert dust or anthropogenic air pollution. The aerosol optical depth is dimensionless."

There are some issues though.  Still don't know what the "m" is, as everything I have seen doesn't use "m" for Aerosol Optical Depth.  And higher numbers are worse.  (Maybe the "m" was a mistake, and they thought it was in meters.)  https://www.meteoblue.com/en/weather/webmap/princeton_united-states-of-america_5102922?variable=cams_aod550&level=surface&lines=none&mapcenter=15.9613N61.1719&zoom=4

And in the above data, the range is 0.10 to 5.0.  But in the image from MSFS, it shows a value of 3.0, which is fine.  But the slider bar is very close to the left, which would be zero.  Which implies that it can go much higher than 5, a lot higher.  That might just them letting us set extreme values though.  (Or, maybe they reversed the slider and put 5.0 on the left.  Which would be backwards since that would be very high.)

So if you have all that real world traffic, how are you be able to squeeze a lot of flight sim pilots between those real planes? You know one thing for sure and that is that the real world pilots are not going to listen to flight sim ATC. You will be placed in a holding pattern and you will not be able to land, not even when you have a fuel emergency because the real aircraft are not going to wait for you.

Although I don't think it was intended to be, that's actually pretty funny.  It sure made me grin.

Someone posted that it meant mass (or particles) per meter, which sounds right.  I wish I could find the post again.  I still wonder about the slider info I posted above.

Player Representation – Anyone using your plane will show up in the same aircraft as yours – if they are using a different aircraft than yours, they will appear as a “generic” aircraft.

At the beginning of the Multiplayer video they show and X-Cub, C-172, DA-42, and PA-18 I think. We will see other players in the default correct planes right in multiplayer? Not something they are not flying unless it is a 3rd party one we don't have installed? Is this on the list as a fix? I am confused!

Also at mark 2:20 there is a C-172, X-Cub, PA-18, and can't recognize other aircraft, too far away, so I guess we WILL see them?

Just in case you are still reading these forum's MS/Asobo, and I know you are. Can we please have some float plane docks and actually tie the plane to the dock like real life, pretty please. I would imagine most dock's will be made by 3rd party scenery developers or even individuals, like I will even try! Just asking please! Nothing worst then pulling up to the dock, and because you can't tie it down, you drift away, or even worst get STUCK in the dock and can't move at all, aka FSX, XP, etc... And a float plane mission on release, like Kenmore Air from FSX. Alright, I am done now 🙂 I think!
