April 10, 20206 yr Right in the middle of the Covid-19 isolation, my PFC throttle system has (yet again) let me down. I have thrown more money at repairing their shoddy, inadequate 'professional' unit than I care to admit. So no more of that. Why on earth any company insists on using unreliable potentiometers in these units is beyond me. I'm planning on getting the Honeycomb system when released. Does anyone have any info on timeframe for release? Set back by Covid-19 im sure.
April 10, 20206 yr Honeycomb also uses potentiometers 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

April 10, 20206 yr There really aren't any great choices if you want an off-the-shelf Hall Effect based throttle quad that can manage 3 and 4-engine configs. There's the VirtualFly unit, but it is set up for a two-engine turboprop and the handles are spaced so that there's no good way to use it for a 3/4-engine acft. On the PFC quad, before I spent literally a solid week designing and retrofitting mine with a custom HE sensor mod, I usually could limp a spiking pot along with a spritz of contact cleaner/lube in the slide. But yeah, it got old having to replace those pots repeatedly as they went bad. Try though I have several times, I have never been able to find a suitable HE transducer that comes anywhere close to the 100 K-Ohm slide pots used in the quadrant, so the retrofit is not straightforward at all. The yoke was an easy proposition using Honeywell HE rotary transducers that were a close physical match to the original .25" shaft rotary pots. April 10, 20206 yr Another vote for the VF TQ6+ here. I simply configure one throttle lever to handle 'all' throttles and so, I can fly single engine or 2/3/4 engine aircraft (which might seem as too much of a compromise to some). A very well made unit. Still not a huge fan of their "tension" system (tension on the Props lever because they are center tends to be less than tension on throttle and mix levers) but it gets the job done. TQ6+ feels very solid, lots of metal not plastic. Cheers, Rob. Hi Rob. I have had some interest in the TQ6+. I have exhausted the youtube videos on the quadrant and have not gotten a good look or read on the mount supplied. Their web sight shows a spec of compatibility with desks from 1 1/2 inches to something larger, like perhaps 3 inches. My desktop is an inch or slightly more than an inch, but not 1 1/2 inches. My desk is multipurpose so I cannot consider a permanent mount. Can you elaborate a bit on the mount? BTW, the VirtualFly units are drop-shipped from Spain. The shipping is quite expensive (~$80 to the USA). X Force PC has been their North American distributor for a while. I checked at Jetline...they charge flat rate shipping of $45, plus they're charging sales tax despite me not being in Florida, total of $91, so paying the $80 for drop-shipping would still be cheaper...errr, make that less expensive...in my case.
