June 15, 20205 yr I started seeing more and more kernelbase.dll CTD in v5. Last several days I was unable even start the sim. If I get lucky I am able to fly for 10-15 minutes and then it crashes. I never had CTD in v4.5. This v5 is so unstable. It crashes even if I fly default airplanes. I followed CTD guide but so far no progress. I hope MS2020 will be different. I am getting really tired of LM. I don't believe the default sim itself is inherently unstable to any great degree, as plenty of people have relatively little trouble with it (my experience, with a fully-loaded sim, though I stick to v5-compatible addons from good devs only). Looking back over the past few pages of this thread, at least some of the problems are the use of non-supported addons. I also suspect older hardware doesn't play nicely with this sim. You say that you're getting crashes with default aircraft. Do you have beta EA off? Do you have other addons installed? If so, could any of them be unstable? Is it a VRAM issue because of an older card? Do you have Windows 2004 and the latest NVidia drivers installed ie an up-to-date Win 10 system? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client? I did have a mildly corrupted install, that simple 3-minute procedure helped me get a more stable platform. June 15, 20205 yr I do have addins like ORBX. QW787 and about 20 sceneries. Everything is compatible with v5! I have a high end system. VRAM is not an issue. I followed CTD guide and it didn’t help. I have tons of addons in v4.5 and I never had CTD wether I fly 1 hour flight or 10 hour flight. Never. I suspect beta version of AS for v5 is causing issues but many simmers have no problem with it. I reinstalled the while v5 twice already. Did you check out if pagefile is set to windows controlled on all drives like in my other thread? I havent had a crash yet after checking and in my case switching from manually. It's hard to blame the sim when you have 20-30 add-ons installed, including betas like Activesky. My approach, if I was in your situation: 1. Drop ActveSky for now, as you suspect it, it's a beta, and others have reported problems with beta 4. 2. Rather than uninstalling everything, get Simstarter or Lorby Addon manager and deactivate all your addon scenery to create a "bare bones" install (scenery cfg and addon cfg, depending on how your addons are installed). Is the sim stable now? 3. Turn off the beta features of P3D v5 ie EA. 4. Make sure Nvidia control panel is back to default (as per comments above), drivers are up to date and windows has updates installed (2004 would be good). 5. In particular, deactivate complex addons. I personally place Couatl in this category, it would be the first thing I would deactivate if the sim is unstable (not very evidence-based, but it's more complex than a couple of simple scenery bgls).. 6. If you've got addons that change P3D core files, then that's what you can't fully deactivate. In a perfect world, you just wouldn't use them, but a lot of people use Orbx FS Global in practice. Do you have Orbx vector installed? If so, I'd ditch that. 7. Is your hardware up to scratch? If you don't have enough VRAM, then you have an obvious reason for your crashes - so that's another story altogether. Not as much of an IT expert as many here, but my understanding is this should automatically be set to windows-controlled unless you've gone fairly deep into the advanced settings menu and deliberately changed it i.e. it should be an uncommon source of problems? June 15, 20205 yr I was checking out the guru3d forum yesterday and noticed that we (nVidia users) don't really have a completely DX12 compatible driver yet. Or that other one that was way over-specific??). I have vague memories of this being mentioned a fair while back. My best guess is that this is only a problem for those who made an old tweak to their systems, a bit like how the Nvidia control panel tweaks may now be causing problems in v5. "Vanilla" seems to be the way to go with P3D v5. Edit: Why does my post have the name of the guy who wrote the old FSX guide as '******'?? Lol. His real first name was J E S U S, it's a pretty common first name in Puerto Rico etc, and it's the second most famous tweaking guide in the history of FSX. For that matter, I'm not sure why we'd have to censor the name of the other, older guy with the same name who is perhaps more famous, but that is another issue!
