I really like it. It's still my beloved FSX, but it's massively upgraded, what's not to like :)..

Very true...personally, now in owning the thing...I believe that L.M. hit a home run.  I am now looking forward the sub releases.  I don't know if it is Orbx Global or lcNorth America...but I have as you could see in some example shots...all sorts of roads crossing over the face of water bodies.  Perhaps Orbx can look at why that is happening..and offer a V5 patch. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be also on open bodies of water, but such bodies (rivers, lakes) that have land around them, or as in the case of a river, on either side of the water way.

This pics are amazing really looking forward to getting v5, holding off until vr gets fixed as I only fly vr my gpu is 8g vram so may get a lot of cod.

Thanks...and with my 1070...just for your own info...with the sim very much maxed out on the sliders...BUT..with the Atmos Beta disabled...I seem to have a low of 3.2 out of 6.7 and a high (which does drop, but doesn't go higher than...) of around 4.4/7 GB's vRAM out of 6.7.  So...I can go anywhere, fly as as long as I like...and not worry about (at least on my system...) vRAM exhaustion and a following CTD. Glad that is...

That's because I have a Black and Decker 2 lb'er..bread machine...and last night under Covid-19 lock-down...I make a Caraway (Jewish Style!!!) Rye.....it drove everybody in the house....NUTS as it was baking.  Yes...I'm am the bread guy in this house! 🙂

Ok, rebooted P3Dv5 with it on, then rebooted again with it off and then rebooted again.  If finally went to standard trees.  As much as I like this version I am seeing a lot of little issues that requires a 5.1 update.  But it's all good I can live with those because the extreme performance improvement makes it worthwhile.

Yes, you need to restart for the vegetation to take effect 😉 Uncheck, restart the sim, it should be the back to the standard then.

Some of the best Ketchikan winter scenes I have seen...I have arrived finally at my BURNED IN  graphics settings. If anybody wants me to show them I will.  My combo, not only gives you the full features of this wonderful simulator...but as you can see in these shots...a steady locked 30 FPS!   Using v4.5,  I'd be near 12-22 FPS.  On some of the first pics...I do have some driver exhaustion, as there are a couple of rendering artifacts. That is not v5..but my endless window to non-window...on and on...as well as many, many times pulling down menus...and messing with settings. Then...it cleared up at the winter snow driving shots.  This is one amazing sim, now... Oh..this has been a blast of a afternoon with this gem..and as you can see, am manipulating wave heights...testing EVERYTHING! 🙂

with atmosphere off it just runs fantastic! i only have a 1060 with 6Gb but it never went over 5GB at 2000ft flying over ORBX Southern California butter smooth at locked 30fps! with very high settings!

it went down to like 22 leaving ORBX KSAN but it was still butter smooth aswell! that was the ultimate test.... awesome!

 

of course all in a standart plane but it was impressive!

No The LionHeart Kodiak Quest.  It was made for FSX actually, but you can fool the installer to put it into P3D 4.x as well as you can see here, that I successfully installed in in v5.

Looking good!  It took me a few hours this afternoon, but I have what I always refer to as my now;  'Burnt In Graphic Settings' by which I never again need to alter anything...but only fly , boat, and enjoy.  I have the sim fully rendering every element it was designed to...but, still will now give me my steady locked 30 FPS.  I am MORE...than beyond satisfied this very moment....wow...what a deal! BTW, I am NOT using, nor will I use the Atmos Beta feature. It darkens the water, kills FPS, and dulls the entire sim down.  If they work on it...and massage it, over a few sub releases, I'll revisit then. But not running it by no means detracts from the sim...by no means! 🙂

Currently I stay away from port overs and installers not made for v5. Let's see how long I can resist.

Oh...trust me...YOU WANT THIS PLANE, in your sim...!

Run the installer, and then point it by BROWSE, to your P3D5 folder.  Not the SimObjects...and let er rip. You will have a perfectly running copy with the wonderul G1000 working like a charm. Pop ups...all of it.  I don't leave home without this grand amphibian.  Heck...you see, it got me up to Alaska! 😉

Saun...I have had v5 down to 16 FPS...and there was STILL not one trace of stutter or chunk.  What can ya say?  I now have all my settings giving me rock solid  locked at; 30.
