April 18, 20206 yr I bought it and installed it tonight. Performance is very good for me (I don't have anything extra installed yet). All sliders full right. I flew for about 15 minutes without any problems. I uninstalled P3D v4.
April 18, 20206 yr The pictures posted don't convince me because they look just like the ones you can get out of P3Dv.5 with ORBX. The pics are a showcase for ORBX not for the core simulator. Sorry not impressed.

We both don't need (in the bad vernacular) "no stinkin' Atmos Beta",....no sir, we need performance! 🙂 Looks like you are now having some very serious fun! I'm waiting for ASN for v5. For now, it doesn't include the Beta Amos. Further sub-releases of v5 will groom and dial in that feature, and we do get 'default' atmospheric haze and water vapor without needing to enable that, as you demonstrate here. So, I'm good for how it is. I do hope though that Hi-Fi gets going on a working ASN...but for right now, am going to see if any of my REX cloud products can eject, or actually control, etc. Edited April 18, 20206 yr by Sesquashtoo

I also like the colors. Out of the box? The other screens look too much like FSX/P3D1-4 to me due to disabling TrueSky. Cheers, Ben.

April 18, 20206 yr There is one issue I've spotted with the (otherwise very nice) atmospheric haze, and that is with contrails. If they are stretching a long way into the distance, when you view the contrails against the horizon, you can see a noticeable line on them where they cross the horizon. It's not a deal breaker, but it is there. Despite this, the new atmospheric effects add a good deal of realism to the look of things. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 18, 20206 yr So after stuffing P3Dv5 with Orbx does anyone else find the settings menu load time completely unacceptable? Not sure adding scenery add-ons to this window was such a good idea. I had to remove Orbx TE Netherlands just to get some sanity back. What, you mean just clicking through the settings menu being slow or the first time opening it or? Yes, starting up the sim takes me a couple of min-up to 7, main menu I get abit of lag pointing with mouse and keyboard

In the fsx.cfg it was DisablePreload. There's no such entry in the prepar3D.cfg so this must be something different but it looks like the same effect. 56 minutes ago, Chock said: There is one issue I've spotted with the (otherwise very nice) atmospheric haze, and that is with contrails. I guess it's one of the beta bugs which need to be sorted out.

I have the complete ORBX product range and installed what's compatible so far. I find menu access unacceptably slow now. I am not sure if ORBX is responsible, but after selecting a menu item I have to wait for a minute until the menu actually appears which is not really fun. Also, startup of the sim is sloooow, and without an exact comparison I feel lt (even) slower than in 4.5. Both facts might or might not be related to the fact I installed ORBX into a library via add-on.xml while I had it integrated into the sim in 4.5.
