Hi Cruachan...actually,  you can't use it...they are not 'updating it'..for the reason that Orbx explains...actually the VECTOR data that has been released with V5...is the most up to date..which now makes Orbx Vector...aged, and quite redundant.  One less thing you now need to worry about.  I don't even need to run my custom Mesh...the mountains are equal to just that...all built in..and that alone makes the price of 'admission' next to nil...  My thoughts, anyways.  Oh..and Tony...I have no intention of turning my back on XP...nope...but THIS...this sucker...puts my longing now for MSFS20 on the back burner.   I can chill with v5...and a beer... 😉

Well, it did actually run well, but I do like a slightly less hazy and 'brighter' mood.  I have used it..and will, but for this flight...did turn it off.  I think having it on, in conjunction with all my other settings, drops me about 1-3 FPS, but...the sim and flight is still smooth and stutter free so perhaps not so important any more...the actual highest FPS count you can glean. If the sim runs smooth, with no chunk or stutter onto final...then...no need to hold a wake...lol!

"LOL..they can remain skeptics...and I can remain in the v5 'fresh air'...oh...I haven't tried my Power Ball Yacht...that's what I'm going to do...and oh...another thing...my Kodiak now is absolutely  in 'real water and waves..' it tosses like a rag...that never happened even in v4.5  Waves were there...but your boat, or plane seemed to be running on two metal rails, just below the surface. Nothing of the kind now...when I landed..I skimmed and banged across the tops of the waves until I bled off enough energy..and then started cutting THROUGH THEM!   Did everybody hear the hoots and holler's coming from my Covid-19 prison cell?  I certainly was loud enough LOLOLOL!  Yeah...I'm having a BLAST this afternoon...

i really like the look with it on but it costs me about 20-30 fps....

 

i spend all day in v4 flying airliners but i just started v5 for some more testing!

 

without a proper PMDG install for v5 i am not gonna delete my v4 for now anyway 😀

I love Mitch's enthusiasm, but to be fair, he does have quite the affinity for sliced bread...and the next best thing 😉

My trees don't look anything like those great shots above.  Mine are a bright-bright unrealistic green.  Look at these default trees, one for summer and one for spring.

Looks like your shots are at Orbx's KORS?  Are your trees default or are you using Orbx trees?   Anyone else seeing trees like mine?

Gotta say, like @DJJose I'm a little perplexed by your enthusiasm @Sesquashtoo, but I'm glad you're having a blast! Nice to read some positivity for a change 🙂 

I will say that I'm sticking by v4.5 until LM has figured out some of the initial niggles. Probably wait until the first (or second) hotfix comes around dealing with the most pressing matters, and by the time they have done so I'm sure PMDG and others have released a good deal of their products. The truth is I'm not that keen on the 'small grit' and low 'n slow flying that OrbX is so good for. I'm curious as hell to try v5, but this time around I'm going to 'keep calm and carry on' 😉

This is speedtrees, you can revert to the 'normal' trees by de-selecting the relevant box in settings.

Yeah mine looks just as bad. The worst and i have ORBX HD Trees installed. Maybe its related to the enhanced invironment?

See my response above to @Clutch Cargo: you are using Speedtrees. You can de-activate them in settings to revert to the 'normal' 2D trees.

I must say after reading the posts over the past few days I am encouraged by the enthusiasm! I had initially planned to purchase v5 this week and spend the weekend installing, but, like Benjamin, I have decided to hold off for a while, let the issues be better understood and resolved and more products released. The vram issue has me particularly concerned as I am not in a position to upgrade my 8 gb card for a while. And, honestly, my 4.5 installation has held up quite well and I am really happy with it.

Thx Benjamin, and yes the 3D Dynamic AUtogen Vegetation was checked.  So I unchecked.... and no difference!?  Has no effect, P3Dv5 does not even refresh no matter if I click ON of OFF? 🤔

Ok, rebooted P3Dv5 with it on, then rebooted again with it off and then rebooted again.  If finally went to standard trees.  As much as I like this version I am seeing a lot of little issues that requires a 5.1 update.  But it's all good I can live with those because the extreme performance improvement makes it worthwhile.

I was playing around with it...but I found that it really darkened the waters...you lost detail.  The following three pics is everything in the sim, turned on...every sub box enabled...everything that has a slider is right.  Atmos Beta is the only thing disabled. I really like this sky and cloud base much better and as you can see...I won't have to ever worry about a vRAM created OOM.  I run with the vRAM reader anywhere between 3.2 and the highest (with the sim set to everything BUT Amos Beta) around 4.4  So..I know I'm good for how I want the sim to render.  There IS one thing I have already found...whether it is because Orbx Global or LC North America...but in the Sarnia River, I had roads totally crisscorssing the river water. That is the first 'uh oh' I have found. Maybe, they need to bring Vector over...I don't know...but that was the one thing found so far.

But these are the skies and cloud build I like..so no pressure to need the Atmos Beta, to enjoy V5:

I have Orbx's HD Trees..in my shots...and Speed Trees disabled.  I also have Orbx HD buildings...
