Planes crash on short final in V5

Featured Replies

Had a strange thing happen while flying the Just Flight Turbo Arrow (it has an updated installer for V5).  I've taken it on two flights to two different airports and on both occasions the plane slammed into the ground on short final.  This was not a sudden descent, one second I was in the air and the next it was bang on the ground.  I had crash detection turned off so I was able to go aloft again and swing around for a second shot, which was normal.  Very strange.  Can't tell if this is a plane or simulator problem, but I've had this plane in P3Dv3 for quite a while and that never happened.  BTW I had crash detection off because previously I was flying the C-130 into KJFK and again on short final the plane crashed, but it stopped dead in the air like it hit an invisible wall.  Has anyone else had strange things like this happen?  Otherwise the sim runs very well and smooth for me.

I recorded this from a replay of one crash:

This happened to me as well. I was on short final into Flightbeam Studios KSFO rwy 28R when I slammed into the water about 1nm from the runway.

I had it also, twice, arriving at KIAH and LOWW with the NGXu. Right after disconnecting the autopilot using the z button. I thought it was related to the ngxu not being properly ported

Flying for a virtual airline in Alaska those "crashes" are detected and not tolerated. So I had to go back to V4.5.

I had more than 300 landings in p3dv4 and never had any crash on short final like this (hitting a wall).

Never had it in V4. Now in V5 3 times within 1 day.

I also tried the same location and same plane in V4, nothing happens.

I had the same thing happen. It seems like a mesh issue where the visual height doesn’t equate the physical ground contact point (just a guess though). Never had this in a previous version of P3D.

I've experienced this once in v5, it's not something that I've seen in many hundreds of hours with v4/v3/v2/v1.

For a start, you’re maxing your settings, probably beyond what your system can handle. Your VRAM is probably being munched.
