May 9, 20206 yr Author That is TrueSky? I don't see that enhanced atmospheric...looks more to me like non-True?!? Dave, I have that look in 2D. What I get when using TrueSky is my initial thread pics...
May 9, 20206 yr Yes, I believe so 🙂 This is without TrueSky: (You can see the Vram drop compared to the 2 previous pics) Edited May 9, 20206 yr by David Roch - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
May 9, 20206 yr Moderator Mitch - I have no issues at all with clouds showing with EA enabled. When you are playing around and testing you really have to shut down P3D after every change and start over. You must start with a clean slate else your results can be affected by whatever you loaded prior. I have never had an OOM with v5. My Vram usage rarely goes over 5. If you just want to see clouds, stick with the freeware - it does a nice job at that. Not necessarily accurate but visually appealing. AS itself uses almost no Vram but the clouds it loads do. If your system can't handle the load lower your settings. AS is working perfectly fine in injecting weather into P3D. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

With certainty, and for whatever reason, P3D v5 Beta on my running of P3Dv5 consumes over a GB of vRAM, resulting in my three vRAM exhaustion CTD's...as well as P3D booting me out of TrueSky in the background. Try EA at medium. It shouldn't "boot" you.

May 10, 20206 yr I just completed a flight in V5 HF1 from DTW to JFK in the PMDG 747-400 using ASPD3 Beta 2 and standard clouds (not EA). Everything worked great. Lots of clouds over Lake Erie and Pennsylvania. I have 5 layers set and it appeared that AS was using all of them. Max VRAM never went above 4.0 The only negative was the appearance of the multi-colored iridescent “bad acid trip” clouds during descent. It seems to happen when just below an broken layer when the ground has come into view, and the cloud layer and ground are being illuminated from the side by the sun. I just landed and found that the airport is VERY dark. Not to mention the taxi light did nothing on the ground. Actually had to use the landing light. I haven’t installed any of my add-on airport scenery into V5 just yet. When I do, the first ones to go in will be my Flightbeam products. I own SFO, DEN, IAD, MSP and PHX. May 10, 20206 yr Here's what HiFi posted on their P3Dv5 Beta site regarding for those that might not be aware: Enhanced Atmospherics The new Enhanced Atmospherics (EA) mode in P3Dv5 is a beta version and not a finished nor polished cloud depiction result. There is not yet an API or SDK control available for add-ons to adjust aspects of the depiction or shaders. While ASP3D works with EA mode, certain depiction issues exist with or without a weather add-on. Some features of ASP3D are not compatible with EA mode. This includes: Cloud detection features, in-cloud motion effect, in-cloud visibility reduction, high-resolution radar/precip accuracy, smooth theme reloads and ASCA-integrated enhancements/dynamics. While the EA depiction and API is evolved over time, we will be constantly working to further extend and integrate with this depiction system. Note that ASCA content will not be shown in EA mode. Any traditional P3D graphics enhancement add-on content will NOT be shown with EA mode. The cloud and sky visuals will be replaced by trueSKY entirely, following the weather data injected by ASP3D. When EA mode is disabled, ASCA and any other add-on graphics content will be used as expected. I do have the new installers, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet on putting them in the sim. I’m testing a few things, and want to keep the sim airport environments at default for the moment. I do have Orbx textures and NA and EU landclass installed though. Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist.
