I haven't kept up with the leaks recently, but doing a quick check I'm seeing that in the past two weeks only two videos with new footage were leaked (and one is extremely short anyway). In the last two weeks, Asobo have provided us with several screenshots, three high-quality clips and the Meteoblue video, on top of the substantial information regarding the state of the Alpha build and the SDK. With the recent development updates I didn't feel the need to check on leaks, and now that I actually checked them out it appears I had made the right decision. Unless there is something I missed, but if it's more poor flying at a low resolution then it won't compare to that astonishing clip with the Gibraltar approach.

Its strange...... I keep hearing that, but the only time I had trouble it was because of some sort of funky mismatch between my computers Id/sign in and my windows id.

Once that was sorted I've never had a single other issue with the site. Not even once.

In the meantime, the discord is now official........

And that was one of the reasons I speculated (to myself) that Avsim might be allowing this thread: That the location of these videos was practically being telegraphed to Asobo/Microsoft by the community itself, saving MS the effort of scouring the web for them.

Essentially, we happily told  Asobo/Ms where to find the culprits.............

The log-in issue is still happening unfortunately, I only had to perform that procedure in the Xbox site once (which I never visit anyway), but every time I visit the site I have to log-in again while making sure that the "remember log-in" or whatever it's called button is not checked. Also some times it takes ages to load, but it's usually fixed when they clear older development updates from the front page.

Should we reframe the debate to avoid misunderstandings  ? I do not particularly condone the leaks, I agree with you that they are generally of a poor quality (I liked the Redding one and the French youngster’s some months ago though) and that the updates were generally quite good, including the written stuff, and honest. I would only take exception of the poor choice in selecting many arty fartsy screenshots and the short clips (sorry I didn’t like the Gibraltar one). 

But the fact is, the leaks are here and popular. The forbidden fruit  effect ? Maybe. I’d also say that we are simmers, we like when things move on our screens. And, in our ever suspicious world, they are not supposedly doctored by MS. 

In any case, MS could release under its control a few longer clips of testers. I’d also love to hear the comments of some testers I trust. The leak industry  would die in an instant.

Hmmmmmm....... I use roboform auto-login, which may be helping....... Honestly I never see the problem anymore. I even deliberately go to the site on days when I see others complaining, and yup, I get right in.

So apparently I did something different once upon a time? (I have no clue)

Could be that. Even if it was disappointing to hear word that leaks had surfaced, the prospect of getting to see something we hadn't seen before and likely wouldn't until release (or being accepted in the Alpha) was exciting, but I felt disappointed rather quick.

I can agree with that, though it would depend on the availability of clips as well. I doubt testers are recording full flights but instead the shorter, "cooler" moments, and no doubt that Asobo are picking through several poorly-recorded clips as well. It might be worthwhile making a general request towards testers for longer clips, as some of them seem to have been fulfilled with some screenshots, but I'm not sure if there is an official policy against that, and in the end it's not their job.

Another thing to note is that we were probably supposed to have a new trailer and more B-roll footage by now, but Microsoft delayed the Xbox digital event to August. In that case it means there is some, or even plenty of footage and information being held back by Microsoft, and Asobo cannot do anything about that.

The short answer is simply that AVSIM cannot stop it from occurring. So why even try? The very most we can do is to enforce the Terms of Service as evenly as we can.

There was a report that it was being moved to August indeed, but now that I've checked again it appears that a couple of marketing managers disputed the information. The date is still not set and so many events keep being shuffled around so who knows when it will actually come. Hopefully in July.

All this secrecy and surprise is slowly taking on unsightly forms. They seem to enjoy annoying paying customers.

Pre alpha it says, or is it completely fake? It looks better to me than all these Chinese leaks combined. Yes, some glitches are visible and car traffic is terrible, but all in all, the 3D cities look pretty. MS/Asobo, you can sign me in for a pre order.

That is official B-roll footage from the X019 event showcasing European cities. And the following video is B-roll footage from the Global Preview event from September 2019.

 

Ah, all old news then ... but even back then already more beautiful than the recent Chinese videos.

I understand we all crave a full flight from A to B, well performed and with nice scenery, and weather, and ground traffic, and ATC, and instruments, and what have you ... patience ... it'll come ... some day. Marketing knows what they're doing ... I bet.

Conspiracy theory: MS leaked those videos themselves and now they're laughing their heads off over this thread ...

In the mean time, clear your heads and let your hands work ... build yourself the $40,- DIY hardware autopilot and radio stack. If you start now it'll be ready before the FS2020 release. Thread to be found elsewhere on this forum. (How's that for marketing? 🙂 ).
