July 18, 20205 yr Am I shocked to see that XP11 which is nearly 4 years old since it launched has a superior flight model to MSFS that has only just gone into Beta and hasn’t been released yet? No. To quote the Asobo team - ‘Thank you for your ongoing feedback, for your suggestions, for continuing on this journey with us.‘ It is a journey and one that we are at the beginning of. It will quite simply, Get Better. Edited July 18, 20205 yr by Carts85
July 18, 20205 yr One of the dilemmas Asobo probably has is that the manufacturers probably won't allow them to show any structural limitations in the planes. So they need to allow the Airbus to make really hard turns at 300 kts. Doesn't really matter for a flight simmer since they won't push the plane to its limits like that. What matters is how they perform within normal parameters. But it does produce some arcadish video clips if that's what someone wants to do...
July 18, 20205 yr Saw the video when it was uploaded the first time around. I honestly regretted it the second I finished (actually, maybe it was the second I started). A few comments: 1) It's hard to judge a product when someone flies that badly. 2) It feels incredibly "toyish". But I also I realized I never fly in third-person view, except to pan around to check out the scenery, so I don't have much of a point of reference. If I take the X-Plane video above as reference, then honestly both look terrible! 3) I sure hope it's on low/medium graphical settings, because I was disappointed after all the other videos I saw (as others have pointed out, the LOD and pops are a little heartbreaking). Then again, it still looks way better than default X-Plane or FSX. 4) On the optimistic side: while this one shocked me, I was much more impressed by the other leaked videos I've seen (e.g. those from that Chinese website), both in terms of scenery and aircraft dynamics. I have mostly focused at those involving GA aircraft though, maybe that's the difference, maybe one should wait for PMDG for serious airliner flying... 5) Looks like MS is losing control on that one. They can't make that video die. 6) This, in a certain way, shows very well why MS should show off longer, more complete videos (with taking off/landing) from serious simmers instead of focusing on planes going through clouds. That's assuming they actually are confident in their product. Now we have a leak and if it were not for the fact that I was anyway planning to try the Gamepass to test my rig before buying a premium version, I'd have second thoughts about cancelling my order. In fact, this video made me think that I probably should wait to see the first reviews before replacing my old CH yoke for a Honeycomb Alpha.
July 18, 20205 yr And unless I'm missing something, most of this flying was done on the hard settings... That's the part I'm very confused (and worried) about... But whatever, we'll know on the 18th. Edited July 18, 20205 yr by Turpentine missing sentence
July 18, 20205 yr I agree with not assessing the sim by the quality of this over compressed video. For the purpose of my choice to buy the sim , I am assuming the graphics are 50% of what I've seen. And it still makes it an easy choice to use MFS as my main sim. I still plan on using xplane As far as flight dynamics. I would agree having 1000 bits of data doesnt matter if your using the info wrong. I think the heaviness of large planes isnt being simulated well. The smaller planes seem way more realistic. Having said that , I wasn't expecting toliss level airbus. Although I expect that they will fix basic issues like allowing gear to go down overspeed. I am a GA guy mainly (I fly my hotstart tbm in xplane most of the time ) so this wont effect me. But I do intend to fly the default airbus. I fly (mostly) from the cockpit and use checklists so I wont overspeed my gear. So it wont matter to me that the plane wouldnt have stopped me. We know from recent tragedy the kind of bad position overspending the airbus gear can put you in... There too many real world pilots that intend to get this sim (commercial and private) to let this video stop me [XP11 BETA/FS2020 BETA] [Pilotedge BETA/Vatsim BETA]
July 18, 20205 yr Well, I am currently taking a break from flight simulation as I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for it. However, after watching that leaked video, I think that any residual desire to return to flight simulation has just been killed off for good. July 18, 20205 yr Luckily what truly matters isn't the default content, but the platform. What the devs will be able to pull off also depends on the SDK. Which isn't even finished... I think there might be a rude awakening come release day of MSFS.
July 18, 20205 yr Haven't seen the video but all the arcade type flying, I've also done in XP, fsx and p3d all while flying with an Xbox controller and if I want to, I can start a flight with the pmdg ngx or zibo or ixeg 737 and simulate a realistic flight. I don't know why people think this would be different with fs2020 lol Edited July 18, 20205 yr by devgrp
July 18, 20205 yr I am starving for more videos of the sim in action, like I guess a lot of you are. Be it good or bad I want to see it. Ive seen way too many vids to let one single video decide whether I buy the sim or not. Sound a bit black and white to me. I really wish ms would lift the nda so we can make this next month’s waiting a bit more bearable, and also to to provide a better foundation for our informed decisions and planning. now, in regards to the last video leak in question, Im not sure Im any wiser after watching it. He doesnt fly the sim in any way close to how I would operate it, and I guess im just left with a couple of reflections: he hit the runway so hard I guess it would break something. Whether or not the airplane would still fly after is an open question to me. It probably would, but the mechanical/structural failure would reveal themselves when he finally lands (i didnt watch the whole thing so i dont know if he showed the actual landing later). The gears would probably fail when landing a second time, or at the very least be unable to withtract. It might be a tear in the hull itself that would lead to decompression, and could be catastophic when exposed to g’s during the second landing that is probably not simulated, or at least i dont expect it to be. The maneuvering displayed wasnt out of bounds afaik, and just showed the limitations of flying with mouse and keyboard. July 18, 20205 yr It's sad to see someone like this in the alpha. Don't think he is capable of spotting any bugs or bringing on good ideas for Asobo. It's clear he only signed in for some free gaming. MaVe Creations - FSLTL - Free AI sounds - Giving your airports more atmosphere! www.mavecreations.weebly.com

Even though leaked vids might show the game looking bad, my experience is much different. While I can say everything doesn't work ie some buttons and knobs, it's still has a lot of potential and once the nda is lifted, people will see. The last alpha/beta is pretty good. Did a complete flight with sid, stars with the new business jet. Flew from Miami to lga. Great performance and no issues all. Some of these guys need to relax. We have a new platform that's better than anything we have right now. In a year or two this will be the defacto sim if 3pd do a good job with addons.

There were ghost images of bridge decks in the water below, parts of the (eastern section) of the Bay Bridge and the San Mateo Bridge were invisible (or underwater) until the plane was very close, and the ground handling and bounce physics looked decidedly arcade. Of course, the fact that AdeptBaton failed to identify the correct runway (twice) may indicate "XBox gamer syndrome" on the part of the user Edited July 18, 20205 yr by Christopher Low Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

The fact that AdeptBaton failed to identify the correct runway (twice) is of course a problem with the user there are still scenery anamolies and im sure there will be some when it's released. As for as bounce phsyics goes, all I can say is, it's the same as XP or p3d. Land a plane too hard and I can guarantee you'll be bouncing back in the air lol. Never had any problems with ground handling as far as taxiing or taking off
July 18, 20205 yr The «missing gfx under bridges» part was an interesting reveal and probably something the devs are working on. Andreas Stangenes http://www.youtube.com/user/krsans78 Add me on gamertag: Bullhorns78
July 18, 20205 yr Bridges have always been a problem in FSX. No change there. I'm still encouraged by the Alphas here (intelligent guys with a decent post count) who have consistently stated it will be better than anything available at present. After watching that leaked vid I'm clinging to that statement.
