2020 release confirmed by Asobo

Bye the way, now it is clear to me why no release date has been given till now. The reaction is evaluated after each video. The last IFR yesterday. With this, the criticism is big and improvements have to be made. That takes time again.

Hehe... but honestly I think the MSFS team is much more calm than the average community member. 😉

They have a good product in the pipe - no matter if there are some flaws, it will still rock the market and the people complaining about it will jump on it as well.

It offers most things we dreamed of for a long time:

  • up to date visuals
  • satellite image streaming including photogrammetry and realistically placed autogen
  • proper flight model
  • decent weather simulation
  • incredibly detailed default aircraft
  • SIDS and STARS with ATC
  • up to date NAV data
  • real world traffic
  • ...

It will be released long before we see E3 again.

MS are holding an E3 event this year inhouse and streamed with the XBOX team in attendance, and game developers.

Rumoured 9th -10th JUNE.

FS2020 may well have been the working project name. Many software projects start out with one internal name only to be released with another.

No, it wasn't FS2020. I would tell you what it is called internally, but that might violate the NDA.

The name doesn't matter to me. From my point of view it can also be called Disney Princess.

I think @Deleted might be onto something. 😄

Think I might start my own rumour, since everyone else is doing it. Hmm, let me think... Here goes, it will cost £88.37 when released, which converts to 98 Euros, which is why Asobo have decided to call it FS98

If it's on Avsim, it must be true!

well it's a little cryptic, the tweet didn't say it was going to be released, the wording is clear, he confirms that "it was announced to be released in 2020"

It seems like a lot of the sim is complete from what we've seen officially and unofficially so a winter 2020 is plausible assuming they be in beta testing by this summer.

When I met MSFS for the first time in 1991, it was called "New Version. More realistic than ever before!" 😎

Yes and they can literally use the same slogan again 30 years later...

And I was thinking about it, probably most of those working on MSFS at Asobo now were probably not born yet back then 🙂

How many games have multiple generations working on it... Impressive...

My first PC game was Flight Sim during IBM PC days. I still remember how much fun I had taking off in the Learjet at Meigs Field and been wow'd by the Chicago skyline.

MS are holding an event like most others in the industry to replace the cancelled E3 event that will be streamed live, MS replacement E3.
