June 7, 20205 yr Hi Everybody I have couple trouble with AA settings. Number 1 is ; Normally I use 4xSSAA+FXAA. But I tried to 2xSSAA+FXAA. I did not notice any quality decrease in cocpit and also outside. Fps also same when sitting on ground but while flying cloudy air 2xSSAA+FXAA give me almost 20 fps more. So if we consider XPlane cloud system is fps killer it is logical to use 2xSSAA+FXAA rather then 4xSSAA+FXAA because it gives same visual quality at least for me. My question is is there any differance which I did not aware of it? My screen resolution is 2K on 32 inch sinle display. 32 GB Ram 3600 mhz. 1080ti and İ7 8086K 4.9Ghz. Number 2 is ; Even if I use 8xSSAA+FXAA far objects are flickering and also far taxi lines or runway lines looks jagged. Anyone have same issue? Thanks Şafak Şafak Çaylı
June 7, 20205 yr XP11 is a lot more jaggy than other sims using in-game AA. I just set 8ssaa and have the same video card as you. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

June 8, 20205 yr Many modern titles have the same issue - high AA levels at high performance cost yet some structures / surfaces show aliasing. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
June 9, 20205 yr if you have HDR enabled - due to the way the technology works, SSAA doesn't have any effect. [AIUI], you need to use FXAA Edited June 9, 20205 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer
June 9, 20205 yr AA is the most annoying visual penalty in Xplane, and much worse than in P3D if you don't want to sacrifice FPS too much. Hope they improve that in a future version. Currently I use 4XSSAA + FXAA, but the jaggies and flimmering are still there. [AIUI], you need to use FXAA I did not get point of you. HDR is enabled in my config. And I use 4xSSAA+FXAA. Also in nvidia control panel FXAA on. So shall I use only FXAA in xplane in game AA. I believe FXAA first noct in AA slider. Thanks Şafak Çaylı

Thanks https://www.x-plane.com/kb/configuring-the-rendering-options/ Quote Please note that in HDR rendering mode, standard anti-aliasing using this parameter is not recommended; it will impact frame rate without providing any real benefit—this is simply a function of the way the new deferred rendering system works. Since HDR rendering is really the way X-Plane 10 was meant to be seen (since it is the only mode where the beautifully realistic global shadows are available), the anti-alias level parameter should probably be left at “none.” Instead, use an HDR-specific method of anti-aliasing described in the section “Special Effects” below. I believe the AA setting has been adjusted in 11.50 beta (seemed to yield different values), but that's all I really know for sure. AutoATC Developer
June 10, 20205 yr That is seriously oudated information pertaining to X-Plane 10. [MSI MPG X870E Carbon | 9800X3D (PBO +200Mhz / -20 Offset) | Corsair 64GB DDR5 (Custom Timings) | RTX 4090 Founders Edition (Undervolted) | WD SNX 850X 4TB + 4TB | Antec Flux Pro]

Nothing really changed under the hood in the graphics engine between xp10 and xp11.41 - just the way to access the settings changed, lots of bugs fixed, a ui overhaul and steamvr support thrown in in 11.26 last 3 years or so have mainly been fixing xps flight model (and breaking 3rd party aircraft) As of 11.50 its all open to change - but its a [broken] beta so nothing there is concrete yet. June 10, 20205 yr The problem are the lines that are almost vertical or horizontal. Even with very good AA you will see jumps on the lines which move along the line when looking around. The only solution is to actually blur the lines. That is what P3D does. FXAA is also essentially just intelligent blurring. A 4K monitor helps because of 2 pixel lines are now 4 pixels wide.
