Bionanobot is back on exam revision, so we have to wait for him to finish that (and the post exam alcohol consumption) I put the result of smashing things together this morning/this evening on https://github.com/mSparks43/Volumetric-Clouds/tree/luascripting the volumetric clouds folder in there should have everything you need to get that running on linux (compiling for windows is a pita for me and if it doesnt work the best I can suggest is check the log.txt file and/or console output for errors) all the weather control for that one is done with https://github.com/mSparks43/Volumetric-Clouds/blob/luascripting/Volumetric Clouds/scripts/smooth_weather/smooth_weather.lua my plan is to script all the weather changes over 15 minutes or so. This is mostly just laying the foundations to do that. Edited July 8, 20205 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer

July 9, 20205 yr Clouds are nice hope laminar can get on board and solve that VC going white when flying through them.
July 9, 20205 yr I only fly with these clouds now. Immersion is so much better and FPS hit is minimal in my case with my hardware, monitor and settings.

Yes, Mesa and Vulkan do not work at the moment (they did in beta 9 though). To use Vulkan, you have to install AMDVLK and an ICD loader for Vulkan and then launch X-Plane with AMDVLK's ICD via environment variable. This is the only way I can use Vulkan at the moment and even then it'll crash when using any third party plugin (probably fixed in B14 now). Do you have an older RX 500 series card? These might need a different driver. On 7/8/2020 at 6:12 PM, HumptyDumpty said: I think 11.41 was the only good release for the Mesa Opengl. Nah. The Linux test was only to check the performance difference compared to Windows in Vulkan and also wanted to try msparks clouds that's all. In windows XP is doing fine for my system no complains except one for which i had reported and was given a bug ID. And due to that i had stopped using XP, well almost. It's a RX 550 ( downloaded the correct driver for ubuntu 20) . But with Mesa even 11.50 was very bad unlike pre 11.50 (which was amazing for me), hence i said 11.41 in Mesa rocked for me. Yep possible it's a high res photo , probably not a possibility in the sim but who knows , the freeware volumetrics are quite immersive but calls for a system update So it's back to windows. Maybe once 11.50 is out of beta i would try it again in Linux. Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

I don't know why , just right now i tried XP using Opengl with the proprietory drivers and with Msparks clouds and surprising the performance is actually good. The AMD opengl implementation was never good probably because it was only for CAD or something i don't know. But now it's performing like the Mesa. The clouds are working with opengl Something very strange, one scenery which gives me only 5 fps in windows is giving me 35 in linux in Opengl with the Proprietory drivers. wow Always knew linux eats windows 😁 How i wish that DCS / Il2 / Arma go linux Edited July 10, 20205 yr by HumptyDumpty Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

I realised one of the reasons people were having so much trouble believing my fps numbers was because no one (including me tbh) realised quite how crippled windows CPU management is. Linux has better memory management, one thing that it uses the hardware to the full that's been my experience with linux Your current system would run circles around mine 😁 BTW i did try your clouds like the transition from broken to scattered etc..
