July 21, 20205 yr You do realize, Chris, that he doesn't care about the developer? 😄 He wants everyone to support the title. He's used to flight sims where the developer only has that one title. Good point on the $1, but that is still support. 🙂 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

July 21, 20205 yr 😅 Nope. I think the XBox game pass for a month to try out the sim is a brilliant idea. For many people who are unsure if their current PCs can run the thing - it will save them money. Also we are talking about a multi billion dollar company here not an Indie dev with 4 employees working out of a log cabin & living on baked beans. I'm sure MS will be just fine. Come Aug 18 the sim will sell like so many hot cakes. Also dont forget that in the winter the XB Series X is coming and FS2020 will be unleashed on consoles - exposing flight simming to an even greater number of people which will pour even more $ into MS.
July 21, 20205 yr Author I like analogies, think of a life boat and you are trying to make it to a distant shore. There are twelve people each having an oar. 2 people are paddling but the rest are sitting on their hands and are saying I want to wait and see before I start paddling. Now if everyone would paddle, even though the future is not guarantied, the chances for reaching the shore increases tremendously. I am trying to give my opinion on how best to give this tremendous simulator all the chance it can. Is that not what we all want? Not supporting the developers may not help but I know one thing. IT WILL NOT HURT. You naysayers are not going to change my mind and I suspect you few who are against my opinion will not change either. That's fine. 41 minutes ago, michal said: I think the original post is totally useless, whipping up some unnecessary hysteria. For the record, I am one of the lucky ones who is still working full time. Maybe you are the one with too much time? Edited July 21, 20205 yr by lancealotg

While the game being released on the Xbox might bring Microsoft extra money, it's likely not going to be much. Flight simulation is a niche product and most people trying MFS on Xbox will be on Gamepass, will soon get bored of flying over their house and the place they visit on holiday and stop playing it.

July 21, 20205 yr How about this for an analogy...Game Pass is the 350hp engine pushing your life boat along making your paddle unnecessary. Chris

That is exactly what i though Might even be quicker than that

You are right , this will definitely be the case - but MS wont be hurting when that happens. The massive steamroller money maker that is WIndows, WIndows Server. MS Office & many others + devices like Surface are where their big $$ is. So I'm not losing sleep over MS crying if a virtual earth with planes tootling about in it doesnt sell many copies as they had hoped 😃 Edited July 21, 20205 yr by ThrottleUp

Any company that thinks they are will fail at some point. Coca Cola with the sugar tax and shrinking of bottle sizes in the UK is just one company who adapted to the changes in the market. Mcdonalds in my local high Street has gone, just wasn't profitable for them to be there. Walmart are looking to sell Asda simply because of the changes in the market.
