August 6, 20205 yr Not off topic, but a short story. I moved to Tacoma, from the frozen white north, Canada eh, in 1965 a teen rebel. Son of a Canadian military (air force father). Fell in love with Mount Rainier, I have climbed it and around it enough times to make you diizzy. For the last Covid-19 four months I buried myself in writing my memoir "Moments in Time - Essays on Life". Mount Rainier plays prominently in my memoir, its where I "found myself", moved on to become a forest land manager, all because I loved WA state and my Mountain. I know sort of off topic but hey I'm emotional what can I say, any photo of Mount Rainier is lovely to me. Back cover photo. August 6, 20205 yr I'll share "my mountain" with you any day. And as evidenced by the detail in your photo of the west side of Mt. Rainier, you can see why I made my earlier comment about its appearance. Around here we refer to it as "the mountain!" In my younger days, I climbed it twice. the second time I carried a bottle of wine to the summit to share with my climbing companions. Jim Driskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
August 6, 20205 yr That's a fab flight sim pic. And I wouldn't say it was a terribly bad rendering of the mountain, just more of an atypical one. Here's a pic of it where it looks reasonably similar, it isn't always just a big snow-capped mass of white: Edited August 6, 20205 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
August 6, 20205 yr Ah, the late August view of the Willis Wall! Nothing sticks to the wall including many climbers! James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)

August 7, 20205 yr I never get tired of looking at the mountain. It's visible for great distances (on a clear day). As a wag once said, "If you can't see Mt. Rainier, its raining between you and it. If you can see Mt Rainier, its raining behind you!" Jim Driskell James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)
