August 6, 20205 yr I only have 16 GB, and I will wait to see how it goes, because I only have a 1080Ti so I don't think I will be using full ultra settings anyway. I will maybe just turn the settings down a notch or two from ultra and see if it is good enough for me; even with this new tech I still expect a trade off between frame rate and beauty! I suppose if you have a 20x0 series GPU, it might be worth backing it up with 32 GB or RAM and turning the settings up then to match the capability of the GPU, but I won't be in that territory for a while. I suppose increasing the virtual RAM / swap file is out of the question. Those were the days! 😄 Edited August 6, 20205 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). August 6, 20205 yr I was a tester from Day One. And almost every time I used the sim -- which was virtually every day -- I kept a window on my screen providing real-time information on CPU and GPU usage, as well as memory usage. I have 32GB of memory and I run the sim at 4K. But I never recall a single instance in which memory usage spiked past 16GB on my real-time stats feedback. The sim seems geared for 16 GB. Obviously the more memory you have, the better. But my own experience, over hundreds of hours, seems to confirm that 16GB does a perfectly fine job even at very high resolutions. Most people will be delighted with how well the new sim performs even on older hardware. August 6, 20205 yr I'm limited to my 16GB of DDR3 GSKILL 2800 and have no issues as long as I don't have a bunch of other applications running. I never run the sim at the same time as Chrome, as it is a memory hog. Will have to see how things progress when addons come out. If you have 16GB, I would advise you wait and see before upgrading. I'm saving the 2TB SSD for MSFS when it's available on the 18th. I've also finally gotten the darn LAN working between my four computers now. August 6, 20205 yr Don't worry to much about it. But RAM is so cheap, so if you are building a new system then you might as well - imo. August 6, 20205 yr Depends on resolution and settings: For 1080p 16GB is absolutely no problem, for 1440p it could get tight.
