In a way, that was the economic model of MS Flight (with regions) and it didn't work very well.

Worked for me.  The rest of Hawaii was fairly cheap and came with a new aircraft, the Maule.  

But this is a different pricing model.  You pay per landing rather than per airport.

It could also be that Orbx is pulling out all the stops to get some flagship airports ready.. Not necessarily that "the workload is small"..😉

Jokes about landing fee microtransactions aside, I think a lot of people here don't even realize how truly old-fashioned MSFS is in terms of modern gaming standards.

I mean, you can just pick the airplane you want to fly from a menu. In other games, you'd have to unlock airplanes by spending hours upon hours of "grinding", as gamers like to call it.

Free handcrafted airports, but with landing fees.

Installation is completely free, but every time you request landing clearance, you need to input your credit card number. 😅
