August 12, 20205 yr That's what Q8Pilot states in this video (between 59:20 and 1:00:00). Does anyone know more? "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
August 12, 20205 yr Moderator He could be talking about the deal that they got in WED to use imagery there as a base layer? It was a few months ago when WED got an imagery layer.
August 12, 20205 yr I think that is what he has been talking about. You can use a satellite image in WED provided by esri. It is very low-res, though - and basically only useful to check the general accuracy of your airport. Cheers, Jan

But yeah, its a flight simulator, no one really cares "that much" what it looks like, as long as you get those goosebumps from that feeling you are actually flying, or that feeling of terror as the ground charges towards you in 3D during a perfectly stable final approach. Nah, that was only a joke, mSparks, I love accurate and beautiful sceneries. Edited August 12, 20205 yr by Dirk98

August 12, 20205 yr Most of the time, Q8Pilot barely has a clue what he's talking about, so I'd take that with a lot of salt. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
August 12, 20205 yr Moderator A non-story.... he read somewhere on X-Plane.org about them getting aerial imagery from ESRI into WED. Such as Janov pointed out, it's low quality and not really suitable to be used in the sim. It's amazing how rumours can start from small misunderstandings 🙂
August 12, 20205 yr Didn't Austin make it pretty clear that he would be incredibly reluctant ever to use am orthoimagery solution for x-plane? This "rumor" would be an uncharacteristic reversal if so. Chris

Founded: 1969, Redlands, California, United States Revenue: 1.1 billion USD (2014 statistics) Perhaps Austin found some spare cash behind the sofa Edited August 12, 20205 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer
August 12, 20205 yr I'd like to see Laminar Research up their "ground" game. It may even help with the professional version of X-Plane. A more accurate depiction of the earth would be really nice. Jim Morgan
