A big "thank you!" to Asobo/MS before all the whining starts

Featured Replies

Count me in into the majority of happy - but not so loud - flightsimmers who the OP has been speaking for.

Thanks Jörg Neumann and Asobo for breathing fresh air into the flight sim genre! I hope you and your passion for aviation and flightsimming will stay with us for many years.

Hopefully the alpha testers didn't have this type of attitude during the development process!

Often it wasn't much different there than it was here. 😄

I think the OP put too much emphasis on the negative (compare his posts with many that follow) but in some ways he's right.  There is a difference between bashing and constructive criticism.

I think Asobo has done an excellent job.  Flaws, yes, unfinished, yes, but an amazing experience the likes of which we've never seen before.  I'd like to add my thanks.

A part of my Job if servicing appliances at private households.

When in addition to the payment I also get a "thanks for how you did your work" I feel better...

I have never said that any criticism is nitpicking or whining. What I actually said: Try to criticize without nitpicking and whining.

Nobody has to decide where is the border between what is acceptable criticism and nitckpicking. Not me, not you.  Lets post on issues, not on general postures, is the core of what I say.

I've never said anything about bashing until now. But lets do it. For a year, some of us  have been forcefully calling out at Avsim the disinformation  campaign of a bitter consultant and small devs attached to the P3D franchise who tried to kill FS20 in the serious simmers mind by piling up systematically hostile extrapolations, bordering lies. That was bashing...

I call it a day, my friend. Enjoy the new sim as I am sure I will. And lets be tolerant.

Sure, we all do. But the salary we receive should be compensation enough.

This is a product, not a charity. We pay for it. A seemingly good product. We'll see but I am happy that it exists. Thanking MS and ASobo  is a friendly gesture if not excessive. But it has obvious flaws. And we must tell them and not try to shout criticisms down. If somebody says something idiotic,  technically wrong we all have to say why it is idiotic or wrong . But a blanket statement like the one I quoted from you is uncalled for.

I found that if you aren’t pleased with some part of the sim, you are considered a toxic, childish, hater and even noob person.

I liked what I saw in the alpha/beta, I think Asobo has done a good job. But is not perfect, and as a youtuber said a few days ago, MSFS is a beautiful WIP. And what I don’t understand is why some people see this as a personal attack, when they are paying for a product and no for promises. Is better than what we have now? Well, in some ways, but that doesn’t make the product shielded from criticism, and shouldn’t.

And we should thwart any attempt to limit the freedom of expression with some vocabulary intimidation. This has been a heavy trend, an almost Pavlovian reflex, in all the flight simulation forums.

Some of you are acting like this sim is free and that all the future ad-ons will be free. This will be another money machine for MS, nothing more nothing less.

We should all want to hear how the ATC will be improved, AI, and whether airports will be updated without being nickel led and dime to death.

We should not care about legit complaints. If Asobo really cared about the Veteran Sim Community someone like me ( a CFII with 20 years of sim experience & a beta tester) would have been sent a beta copy.

So let's stop. This sim is not a free gift. We will have to pay and continue to pay until MS decides to close their doors of FS again.

Tweaking is a PC thing, whether it’s P3D, ArmA or Crysis I’ve tweaked my whole life 😜

Do you work for free ?

Slag away

Maybe you think that I got FS9/FSX/XP11 and the countless of add-ons that I have all for free. I never said I want a free copy of FS2020.

What I did say is that FS2020 is not FREE and that it's obvious that this sim is not about the dev's love for the veteran sim community.
