Please. Everyone. When you ID your GPU please advise also of memory.  2080?  8GB or 11GB.

He said 2080 Ti, that only comes with 11GB.

2080 is 8GB and 2080ti is 11GB. Always.

HT should always be off. I have yet to see a game with better fps having this on than off.

Evidence? I have  several games that are better with it on.....

It's true the games for the most part don't benefit from HT. However, it's silly to turn it off, as games are usually HT aware and end up with the same performance. However, productivity and general applications can benefit immensely from HT, so turning it off you essentially just neuter your PC's performance for no reason. This is just one of those things you see in the P3D community and only in the P3D community.

With my 6700K I've found HT on to be absolutely essential to smooth performance. I started at 4.7 GHz with it off and was getting horrible stutters that made the thing practically unflyable. I'm now at 4.4 GHz (so considerably slower) with HT on and performance is excellent.

Very different from my P3D experience, I'll put it that way...

For me, 9900k oc'ed to 5.0 and a 2080Ti running at 4k, the GPU is the bottleneck.

The CPU is kind of relaxed.

Interesting, I have a 7700k @ 4.8ghz with a 2080ti (HT off) and my cpu is frequently pegged at 100% and the GPU around 50-60%.

I had the same thing with my 7700K @4.8 (HT off) and 2070S. I enabled HT and lowered OC  4.8 -> 4.5 to keep CPU temps around 80 c. Now my CPU is around 50% and GPU 98%. No noticeable difference in FPS, but sim feels smoother.

HT works well in Windows 10.  I started using it in 3 versions of P3D ago.  The thing you may need to change is to lower your overclocking from 5ghz to 4.5 or 4.7ghz and make sure your cooling system is good like a Hybrid CoolMaster one.

5.2GHz HT off vs 5.0GHz HT on yielded exactly zero FPS difference to me. Load distributes nicely over all threads and for lower core counts you can expect more fluid experience and less stutters, if that should happen to you.

If we talk about 9900K around 5GHz with either HT on or off, it doesn't make a difference. When flying you will almost always be GPU bound and processor that fast doesn't even matter any more. So I'd say turn on your HT because you paid for it and lower your overclock just a bit if heat is unmanageable. I am willing to bet that you wont lose a single FPS even if you set it to run at 4Ghz.

Thanks I’m going to give HT a shot.

9900k here, HT off. Always HT off for me. CPU runs cooler as well.

I'd forget all those awful P3D hacks and just have your system run normally. Games are designed to take advantage or are very HT aware in this day and age.

Turn HT on and you may be in for a pleasant surprise.  Remember that when you exclude the HT threads the OS doesn't have access to them either.  Also if you turn off HT your hardware threads don't get anything back.
