Why I will never purchase from SimMarket again

Featured Replies

>The question remains, if our original disgruntled poster is so>enamoured of Flight 1, why didn't he just buy the product from>them?Because he apparently clicked on the link from the Activesky site, which gave no indication that he may be charged more. From THAT point "caveat emptor" may apply, but if hifi is so concerned about keeping their customers happy, a simple adviso as to possible extra charges might have prevented our "original disgruntled poster" from being disgruntled. They knew full well what the situation is with different currency rates.

FYI to all,We have changed our website to make this potential issue more apparent and less confusing to customers. We are also handling the issue and refunding the difference to the customer who initiated this thread. We just received our first contact from him late last night. In closing, I'd like to say that I don't blame SimMarket for their policies or that they use EURO for pricing. Many points have been made here and the end fact is that yes currencies are changing all the time and yes this could have been made more apparent on our website. It might also be interesting to know that this is the first time we've had such an issue. While it appears many think we engaged in some kind of dishonest or misleading business practice, I can say that is NOT true, and quite oppositely, we tend to go way above and beyond to be up front and honest at all levels. Also interesting is that sometimes the price difference DOES go in the opposite direction, and the customer actually pays less than our attempted $37.99. We haven't had any complaints of that yet, however... ;)Some are hinting that it was a poor business decision to not offer to refund the customer's difference based on their confusion. Let me say we have been publicly stating since this came to our attention that we want to handle this, and only just late last night received contact. it is unfortunate that HiFi's reputation is questioned based on all this, but there's nothing that can be done about that despite all the attempts we've made. It's up to the people to decide for themselves if they feel we've dropped the ball or let our customers or the community down in any way. We appreciate any input and feedback on the matter, and are very open to suggestions. Our feedback address is [email protected]. We hope we can prove to all that we are not the kind of company that is in the business of making unhappy customers.Best,

Damian Clark

Excellent to hear that.I'll tell you right now that I'll be taking a closer look at your products. I have far more trust in a company (or a man) who steps up to plate and deals with things face to face.Thank you for speaking up and writing in on this issue. If I see your company mentioned in other posts in other forums, and I frequent many major flightsim sites, I will speak well of you.

As a long time HiFi customer, I have no doubts at all about your honesty, integrity, and devotion to your customer base. HiFi ranks with the best in service and customer support and goes the extra mile every time.DJ

The reason you haven't run into this before is that most people read before they buy. And if they don't, they accept responsibility for their mistake. It's a shame this came out. This should have been a very private matter between the parties.Kudos for taking responsibility for someone else's mistake.IMO, your reputation was never on the line.

It's true that the customer should have compared the exchange rates and figured out that simmarket has the wrong price on their website and then acted on it. However, that being said: I am purely shocked at the amount of 'you're a dumb american who didn't read' comments posted here. It really makes me question the integrity of some users.http://www.kthxdone.com/images/kw_ft.jpgKen Weik [link:maam.org|MAAM-SIM][link:library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=root&SearchTerm=kenneth+weik&Sort=Added&ScanMode=0&Go=Change+View]My AFCADs

>I don't think it's so terribly naieve to think that those who>actually have a job, a credit card, and a sufficient computer>system to run FS are likely to be thieves.HAHA That's the perpetuating train of thought that always THAT majority to get away with it. Wonder how many people with a job, a credit card, and a sufficient computer to run FS have copied VHS/DVD movies? You'd be surprised that your "naieve" thinking would be shattered if you worked in and around law enforcement as I have.
