August 20, 20205 yr So how about that baro pressure setting in sim. Where does it get the information from about what pressure to apply to an area, and where can I find it? I could of course just look at a metar, but as previous posts in this thread indicate, metar are not the source of the weather in the sim, and so I guess it's not the source of the pressure either. I wonder how VATSIM, which injects its own world weather, is handling this. They might have some insight. If that's working (I haven't gone on there in this sim given the navigation issues) then it might provide some clues. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. That's one of the reasons I said what I said. I spent two decades working with the top publishers and developers in the industry (including MS) and what I see with this product is pretty obvious. Lots of reports being submitted and subsequently not addressed tells us a lot. In my experience is does not say that we're screwed. Quite the contrary. We can see from a lot of this sim a commitment to providing an evolutionary step in flight simulation. The pieces are all there. They just didn't have the time to get to countless items. Time, I believe, is our friend here if we have the patience to wait. i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.
August 20, 20205 yr Well I really hope so! There’s a lot of awesome things about this sim, which I think makes the issues that more hard to bear, especially when it comes to weather.

The "what we expect" part is what I dont see the need to discuss in ever single thread created in this forum since monday. The surface and aloft winds not injecting in the US appears to be a definite bug that needs to be fixed. If airport weather is indeed based on a forecast model and not METAR, that would be a design decision and not a bug. There are some valid technical reasons for doing it that way, but it can also cause many issues with those flying online with services like Vatsim. It remains to be seen if ActiveSky could create a weather injector for MSFS that works the way their FSX/P3D product does. One reason that Active Sky can set weather very precisely in the sim environment is that they bypass simconnect, and directly manipulate internal weather variables in the running sim process. By definition, it’s a type of “hack”, but MSFS may not permit that kind of direct control. Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. It is quite probable the bug exists in other places. Most of my own flying is done in the US, and I have never once seen winds aloft work there. I did do a flight from Costa Rica to KLAX and the winds aloft were working fine until about 100 miles north of Acapulco, Mexico. They then went to 225 at 3 knots and remained that way the remainder of the flight. They seem to work in Europe. August 20, 20205 yr So in Vatsim I can check the vatsim weather through apps and websites, but how does it work with Meteoblue? I'm at their website, and after searching through their various pages, I cannot find any info on local pressure? Andreas Stangenes http://www.youtube.com/user/krsans78 Add me on gamertag: Bullhorns78
August 20, 20205 yr Ok, so satelite imagry show that there are clouds (CB) over lake Victoria in Uganda. That is correctly depicted in the sim. However, acording this this metar, the local QNH at the airport is 1016.7. That translates to 30.00 in. In the sim I'm getting 29.86 when I press B. https://aviationweather.gov/metar/data?ids=huen&format=raw&date=&hours=0 Qnh-In conversion chart: Andreas Stangenes http://www.youtube.com/user/krsans78 Add me on gamertag: Bullhorns78

It's no different than hoping for better third party airports and aircraft, ATC and AI traffic, all of which aren't that great in the default sim. MSFS is beautiful to look at, but the piloting features need a good update. I'm patient, but if HiFi releases Active Sky for MSFS, I'm on it in 10 seconds. Let's hope they make SDK provisions for weather add-ons some day. As of now, none exist that we are aware of. We did work hard on preparing something for MSFS, in hopes that they would eventually make weather SDK functions work, and that work is ready if they open it up later on. Until then we are locked out. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
