August 20, 20205 yr I also don’t think METEOBLUE is actually loading winds aloft. As most of my flights I never saw anything past 10/KTS at FL350-FL390 Follow me on : Instagram See my Trailer: A Year Of Flight
August 20, 20205 yr I got 150kt headwing when cruising to Santiago, it was pretty spot on. The SIGWX chart showed a jetstream with the same windspeed as in the sim. But I got to agree, live weather is bugged.

At one point the weather around my house changed from clear and sunny to dark, heavy clouds, and FS modeled this really well. I wanted to check out some thunderstorms, so I looked and the area around Florida and the Bahamas was active (as you'd expect), but I go down there and took off at Freeport which had a big old t-storm right on top of it according to real weather radar, but I just got puffy clouds. The weather radar showed some small cells, but I couldn't get a drop of rain to hit the windshield or a bit of turbulence. You'd think August in that area in the afternoon would be active for sure. Yeah, the weather is very sporadic and patchy here in S FL this time of year. You can have a complete thunderstorm along the coast and 5 miles inland you can have clear blue skies. Going to be hard for any live-weather program to update that fast and cover that sporadically. Although AS seemed to do a better job and was more accurate in my area in P3D. August 20, 20205 yr I'm still not sure about winds myself simply because I haven't a clue how to determine their strength when in the cockpit at altitude, i'm still learning! In terms of actual visible weather i'm certainly getting results. Decided to depart from Aldergrove earlier when a large storm was well developed over Northern Ireland, it was pretty fearsome looking in MSFS. Flew east where the real radar was showing clearer weather over the coast and this was replicated.
August 20, 20205 yr It’s important that we all submit weather mismatches through zen desk, especially where they seem to be hit or miss. August 20, 20205 yr I'm going to try again today and see if it is any better. I see a fairly wide swatch of light to moderate rainstorms around Kirkland Lake Airport in Canada. Going to take off and fly SW towards Burwash Lake (flying low) and see if i catch any rain. Edited August 20, 20205 yr by SceneryFX AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

First flights typically work right, but sometimes you have to load multiple themes, back to live, etc. Everyone needs to report it to zendesk to put the pressure on over it. I agree with everyone that says it's a core feature and needs to be ironed out. The issue with whether it exactly matches the METAR is less concerning to me as long as their forecasting technology gets it close. That's actually more realistic. You know how often the conditions at an airport exactly match the METAR unless it's right at the same time as the report? Basically never. The winds are always changing, ceilings vacillate, etc. I agree with this. Other than CTD's that are happening for some users and the download/installation issues that are reported (I had a very smooth instakllation and no crashes at all, but I don't doubt that are others having these problems), which are items that should be top priority to be fixed, the weather is probably right after that. Live Weather is a core advertised feature of the product and you can't have a viable flight sim without a reasonably plausible weather engine. I reported to Zendesk and would encourage everyone else to do the same. I am not expecting conditions to match METAR exactly, but I have had lots of flights where I know the conditions are cloudy and rainy and yet I am getting CAVOK without a cloud in the sky. Something is greatly amiss there. I agree, it seems to be wildly inconsistent. August 20, 20205 yr From what I’ve seen posted in the official forums, the live weather works pretty well in Europe. It’s North America where it does not seem to be working correctly. Hopefully if enough people report this it will be high on their priorities. https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Once it's loaded it is absolutely stunning. I have tried that, but unfortunately it wasn't working for me last night. It just seems to be hit-and-miss. - Kevin Windows 11 / Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI RTX-4080 Super 16G Ventus 3X / Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 / Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro / 64GB Lexar ARES Gen2 RGB DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 RAM / Dell Alienware AW3418DW WQHD 3440x1440 GSync / Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 2TB (OS) & 860 EVO 4TB SDD / WD Caviar Black 4TB HDD / EVGA Supernova 850 G5 PSU / Be Quiet Light Base 600 LX case / Virpil Warbird base with Constellation Alpha grip / MFG Crosswind rudder pedals / Virtual-Fly TQ6+ throttle quadrant / Winwing Orion HOTAS F-18 Throttle / Virpil TCS+ collective base with Hawk-60 grip / Saitek Trim Wheel / Saitek Radio and Switch Panels / Winwing Combat Ready Panel / Tobii 5
August 20, 20205 yr Might possibly be the servers taking a load. I noticed today that the atc is working again, but we shall see if it keeps going when more of Europe logs on after work. For me, I've gotten live clouds today, but I dont believe I got the correct winds. Seems very calm all over the world. August 20, 20205 yr Weather is working perfect for me here in Europe, the sim is bloidy awesome, love it!!! Regards Paul EGCC
August 20, 20205 yr Went to Kirkland Lake, clouds seemed accurate this time, no precip (as expected) as was north of storm. However, I then went back to the menu and reset to fly out of Pembroke, Canada near the center of the wider part of the rainstorm, flew for a few minutes at 400 kts in a jet, not a single rain drop. Flew under clouds, into clouds, around clouds, no rain. Masses and masses of thick soupy clouds but no rain. Here was the radar... What do you mean "Not correct"? It depends on where Meteoblue get their data from. A METAR is just an observation at the airport. In the case of Bozen, the weatherstation for the city however is here: https://tinyurl.com/y3axaezp That is quite a ways away from the airport and I'm not sure if Meteoblue processes both for their data. And this data is what is sent to the sim. I know the area a bit from various vacations and I can very well imagine the temperature being different at the airport and at the hospital where the station is.

Ok, but people when flying use metars right? If Meteoblue uses weather stations that are far away from the airport, when you are flying into that airport, you expect some kind of weather based on the Metars, but once you get there it's different. Not funny.
