But it only seems to work on my first flight of a session - any subsequent flights I get the same clear skies and light winds no matter where I go. If I close the sim and restart it, I seem to be able to load Live Weather again but only for one flight. Yes, this has been a long-standing problem. I’m not sure if it is an overt bug, or a poor UI design implementation. Live Weather will usually work fine on initial load of an aircraft and airport. (Other than the missing winds problem in certain locations). But, if you end a flight, go back to the aircraft/airport selection menu, and start a new flight, Live Weather usually stops working completely, which gives clear skies, zero winds, pressure of 29.92, and temperature of 15C. (The same as the “clear skies” weather preset). Another user reported that they got around this problem by repeatedly toggling between a preset and Live Weather when starting a new flight. Perhaps that will work, but I have found that the only reliable way to insure getting Live Weather when beginning a new flight is to exit completely from the simulator and start from scratch. That is definitely something that needs to be addressed. Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. August 21, 20205 yr Central italy has been bugged by Asobo. It's 3 days that here we have clear skies and no winds 🥵 Edited August 21, 20205 yr by Marco Manieri Marco Manieri Perugia - Italy

August 21, 20205 yr Live weather is not working for me either. Altimeter is correct and that is it. Have flown in multiple areas of bad weather according to the metar, but it is clear in the sim. i9-10900k * 64GB 3600MHz Ram * RTX 3090 running 3 75" 4k displays smoothly. August 21, 20205 yr This is annoying, live weather is a key feature and It was a strong selling point for me, I can't stand fake weather. R5 3600 - GTX 1070OC - 32GB 3200 - NVME - 3440x1440 160Hz - VR(Quest 2) GarbagePoster™

Real, live, as it is happening weather is what I want and use. Was great in P3d. I like to pull up a wx radar map, find something interesting and go there.
August 21, 20205 yr Unfortunately, Live Weather wind is still NOT working for me in the US. I just did a flight from Portland to Eugene Oregon in the 172. One difference I noticed is that the surface wind in the world map was showing 185 at 6 knots for KPDX, which is pretty close to the current METAR. That is something I have not seen before. But, on loading into the airport, surface wind was (sigh) 225 at 3 knots. It never changed at any point in climb or cruise. Upper wind at my 6000 foot cruise should have been 214 at 25. Temperature and pressure were close to METAR, and there was a heavy overcast to the south at about 4000 feet, which corresponds to what I see on the current satellite map, but no GD wind.😡 I exited the sim, and reloaded at EGKB in the UK (Biggin Hill). Set up a flight to EGBE (Coventry). EGKB METAR showed 210 at 19. Sim had 211 at 15. Perfect! Winds aloft at 6000 feet were predicted to be 222 at 44. In the sim they were 230 at 47. In fact, I was getting tossed around quite a bit in the climb by the wind. I had wind out the wazoo. BTW, despite the complaints about the avionics in the default aircraft, I have to say that the G-1000 and autopilot in the C172 did a fantastic job of putting in the correct wind correction angle to maintain my ground track with a 40 knot direct crosswind in flight. Live Weather wind works great... in the UK. In the US - no... You would think that Asobo would have taken extra pains before launch to insure that if Live Weather was going to work anywhere, it would work in the US first and foremost. I don’t say that because I live in the US. I say it because it is where Microsoft is headquartered. August 21, 20205 yr I Wouldn't worry about it, the live weather works for me. Got 37KTS crosswind today, and gusts to 50, and the little C152 wasn't phased at all! Super realistic 🤨

August 21, 20205 yr Ok, so the surface weather depiction in the sim has been pretty good all day so far in my area. The ATIS/AWOS/ASOS reporting at a couple of airports I checked in the sim doesn’t match the weather depicted though. The main issue is that the clouds are reported as “few” when they are being depicted (accurately) as broken or overcast. The cloud bases seems like at least they are being reported at the right altitudes. But once again...wind is 270 @ 3 everywhere ☹️ Chris

August 22, 20205 yr Geez, nothing against HiFi, but everybody calling for Active Sky at this stage of the game is suffering from Stockholm syndrome I think. The past 16 years has conditioned people to think that a 3rd party is the answer for everything. The sim has the foundation for a great weather system. It works...not 100% right now...but good grief. Give the team more that a few days to work get through the growing pains. Chris

The actual weather looks reasonably correct looking out my window, and matches the METAR too, but the ATIS/ASOS reports are way off. In an overcast it will report "few clouds" as the ceiling. I'm not sure if it's the live weather that's at fault - or a broken WX report from the sim when the WX matches live reality. I'm mostly suspecting the latter.
