August 21, 20205 yr I've wondered why some previously modeled larkmarks like the US Capitol Building haven't been used in MSFS2020 since Microsoft already owns the rights to them. I'm sure there's a good reason. I assume it's more complicated than it might seem. August 21, 20205 yr Not sure if it was mentioned earlier but take a look at Atlantic City. All the casinos are 1 story warehouses. I'm sure it'll improve over time.

It would enhance the result a lot if the AI would consider such information. Churches are one of those infos for example. This occured to me, too. I understand, churches and dome-topped buildings (and others) are hard to identify from the foortprint, and I also understand Asobo can't hand-model 10.000s or which number ever of churches of the world, whichever religion. My home-town is very-well modeled in MSFS including our house, but it's dominated by a 140 m round office building which is completely missing. However, Open Streetmap indeed has all that information included plus the hight, so they could place a generic church model there. But perhaps MS/Asobo are not allowed or don't want to resort to OSM, for whichever reaso? Actually, I don't recall Asobo ever mentioning using OSM as a data source so far. However, there are other databes of churches available so it's still a miracle to me. The cathedral-esque church in my hometown turned out to just be cruciform shaped grass next to the rectory. I just assumed since my area is a small rural town that the ai messed up. My wife and I then checked out segovia. The beautiful cathedral there is also just cruciform shaped grass. So now I’m wondering if the ai just doesn’t have a cruciform shaped asset to fill those 2d images. But then I went to Paris and I’m pretty certain that Norte dame was just grass as well, and I’m not certain but I don’t think it’s cruciform shaped so it should have been populated. Plus Paris received hands-on attention. Why did they skip notre dame? Perhaps I had the wrong location? I saw that there was a beautiful model of Sacre Coeur on the hill, and the Vatican is modeled in Rome, so it’s not like they are avoiding having churches in the sim. I’m just confused here. What gives. Someone has not confessed to their sins. Three Hail Marys should take care of it for the next patch. // 5800X3D // RTX 3090 // 64GB RAM // HP REVERB G2 //

I too noticed this. It's not that there's anything wrong with dark-skinned pilots. It's just that there's nothing wrong with other races being represented as well. If all the pilots were, say, Chinese women, I think you'd find that a bit odd too. The justifiable quest for equality has become the demand for exclusion of everyone else. May God help the TV advertiser, these days, whose commercial stars a white man. Simply saying that "All Lives Matter" or "All Pilots Matter" is now considered hate speech. David, I noticed this too when I went to customize my pilot. However, it was a reminder to me of the diversity of the piloting / flight sim community. This past week, my 17 year old daughter (high school junior) saw me flying MSFS and XP with my new Honeycomb yoke and mentioned to me she's been thinking about aviation as a career. That about knocked me out of my socks! I smiled and turned the yoke over to her and started teaching her how to fly XP's Cessna 172 from take off to landing. It was awesome to see her interest and excitement flying around our city. I then loaded up MSFS and flew over our house. She had the biggest grin on her face when she saw it. Today, I asked if she wanted to take a flight in a real 172 and consider beginning her private pilots license... Proud Dad. My daughter just graduated from the OSU law school (Moritz) a couple of months ago. I strongly suspect your daughter will become an excellent pilot. I'm also jealous that your city, Columbus, is so beautifully represented in the sim. My own hometown, Huntington, WV, looks fine but nothing like Columbus or Cincinnati. Ohio looks wonderful in the sim. The kids are taking over -- which is probably a very good thing. I checked it out and it seems like the height attribute is rarely used, but nevertheless it would already look much better if things like churches, hospitals, shopping malls, radio antennas, etc get modeled instead of some generic house. Especially churches are often used as navigation aid. 58 minutes ago, pmb said: Actually, I don't recall Asobo ever mentioning using OSM as a data source so far. That was just my idea. Bing should have that info available as well. When you type in "church" at a random location, it lists all churches in the area.
