No flight model for the Citation Longitude

Featured Replies

Today I found out that there is no special flight model for the Citation Longitude! It just uses the flight model "generic business jet"! That leads to totally unrealistic max speed and way to less range.

Do you guys know if Asobo plans to update the plane?

Welcome to AVSIM! I hope you enjoy your stay.

If Asobo doesn't have plans to update the default Citation, then I feel sure that some knowledgeable members may well do so once they have got to grips with how to alter the parameters and configurations..

Yep. The CJ-4 has way too much engine power and burns fuel at about twice the rate of the real thing. The second problem is probably related to the first.

It has reverse thrust, which it doesn't in real life.

I feel like they had the Citation X in the back of their mind when they made cj4. 🙄🙄

Yes, it does kind of appear that way!

Despite Carenado's reputation for Eye candy aircraft - but poor controls etc - in P3D I fly a lot in their

525 - 560 - and Dasault Falcon 50 - which is a Beauty!! - which took me around the World on a Flight.

Either Asobo should hand the upgrade job to Carenado's experience - or if Carenado is reading this

you have an immediate customer for the FA 50 and the 560 in the MSFX sim.

I know that the CJ4 is a default aircraft, but isn't engine power and fuel burn kinda basic stuff for a flight model?

It should be. Either 1) a bug or 2) they ran out of time. Should be reported to Asobo ticketing system multiple times.

Please do that. But also make sure you keep reporting here, as they certainly seem to be more attentive to the AVSIM forums.

Its a fun small jet that needs to be fixed, yesterday i had coffee with 2 engineers who i got into flight sims back in 98 when we were young and dumb. And this guys have the numbers and access to data that if  we knew how to mess with fs aircraft files we could probably tweak a few thing . It may be time for me or us to start learning how to make changes... 45 % fuel should cover certain distance with calm weather all around and is not the case and seems like this thing  is thirsty as a camel .

Hola Tony

The MSFS2020 CJ4  won’t even reach 500 nm on 50% fuel,  many values are wrong. Also seems someone  thinks "generic business jet" comprises any jet, from a Lear25 to a G650.
ATM  the CJ4 can go head to head with a Tomcat. Even in range!

Yup, you almost have to turn the throttles to idle during initial climb, and it burns fuel so fast you have avail yourself of the "inflight refuel option".

Unfortunately for the Longitude you can't make any changes as the plane is "encrypted" (probably because they don't want you to just copy it over to the standard edition.)

But for the CJ4 you can definitely try it. So far I found out that the "flight_model.cfg" inside this folder:

%appdata%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\asobo-aircraft-cj4\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_CJ4

Is the file to tweak. Maybe also the "engines.cfg" inside the same folder.

Let's hope they will make updates to the business jet aircrafts once they finished more important bugs.
