August 29, 20205 yr MS Asobo just released "Asia, and The Middle East – Around the World Tour" and I was amazed how Tungbukan island along with coastal sandbars and corals are depicted. And I flew it on the sim to check it out, but I'm confused if I'm flying on the same island or not. And realized the actual stream online is different from the trailer, I made some adjustments from weather, time, wind, clouds everything. I even change the seasons with no changes. Did I missed anything? I'm running on Ultra on my Rig 7770K, 32GB, GTX1080 stuff.... Here's the Bing Map, this concerns me. even Boracay Island is messed up.
August 29, 20205 yr Well, you can see how fast those Coral Reefs are being destroyed! We need to save the environment!
August 29, 20205 yr Apparently some of the satellite imagery was updated shortly before release, and the water masks have to be done by hand again. This is why so many are reported as missing.
August 29, 20205 yr Out of curiosity, what graphic settings are you running on? I have no idea if that would cause the water to look cloudy, but I wonder? PC Specs: Intel i5-7500, 16GB DDR4 2400 RAM, NVIDIA GTX 1660 6GB GPU, 1TB Samsung SSD 860 EVO M.2, 1TB spinning rust HD (via SATA), 3TB spinning rust HD (via USB), Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Logitech Attack 3 Joystick FSX: SE | MSFS2020
August 29, 20205 yr Yeah that kind of sucks. Without even going to exotic places. Even here in Italy there are supposed to be plenty, but all the water masks were cut so they don't show. I was looking forward to them Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
August 29, 20205 yr It has been mentioned multiple times that the reefs are ingame are not like in the trailers. They messed up.
August 29, 20205 yr Yep, I haven’t seen any reefs where there should be some. Just green water. Did a flight around Hawai’i and Cancun and it didn’t look great at all. But they keep on with the false advertising... / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot

August 29, 20205 yr I agree that this is a major issue that should get a statement from the team on what the plan is. And the marketing people should stop with this... but it begs the question... what version of the sim does marketing have? I want it.
August 29, 20205 yr I kind of understand the reasoning why they apparently made the change. It's to make the water look more consistent. Most satellite data that has reefs and things have very sharp corners where the picture cuts off. When you try to inject that photo into generic water, the result is very "pasted on" looking. I ran into the same problems when trying to insert satellite data when I was working with scenery editors to inject satellite data a Hawaii scenery i was working on. . The borders of the photos would make it look like the island was just Cut and Pasted into generic water textures. It looked totally unnatural. So I ended up trimming the islands myself to make them look more organic and less patchworked. I missed the reef details, but they were not worth the hard line borders going from the "generic' water to the photographed water. I'm actually pretty shocked that they were able to make the islands look as natural as they do. They just look to be in "deeper water" as has been mentioned.
August 29, 20205 yr I am really not trying to dump on MSFS here, but I genuinely don´t understand why the satellite pictures "bleed through" in places like the river Thames in London so you see ships and docks where you don´t want to - but not in these coastal waters where you WOULD want to have that effect?

We deal with all the other minor quirks and glitches the world scenery has, so I'd much rather have the reefs that are depicted in the trailer and just live with the texture border issue for now until they clean it up later on. Why would Asobo release a trailer with a reef looking like this when we already have the sim installed and can see it is false advertising. Maybe this is one of the planned fixes in the upcoming update and that is why they showed it in the trailer. Edited August 29, 20205 yr by Heli
