August 31, 20205 yr It's a Saturday morning. Folks are out jogging, taking their bikes for rides and heading out for a cappuccino and a breakfast with the family. I'm stuck in my car, leaning forward to look at the clouds, keeping check on the leaves moving in the breeze and heading in the general direction of Me Time: the air field. Next I spend 30 extracting the jaded Cessna from the hangar, followed by a protracted pre-flight check. Then there is the hangar talk, the weather update and at last, I strap myself in to run down the pre-start checks. Eventually I am on the active, everything set, and slowly push that throttle lever forward. Bliss. Only today it's raining with low cloud. I launch Flight Simulator and drift off to make a fresh pot of coffee. Return in timely fashion to Press Any Button and go back to stir a little milk into the coffee. Ah, now I can settle down and carefully choose a departure point, select a GA aircraft and then walk over to the window as Microsoft loads it all up. The designated parking bay appears to be on dirt, very odd. I make a mental note to send the DA-62 in so somebody can check avionics; I could swear I had different settings after the previous flight. How strange, one of the buildings at a Premium Deluxe airport is rotated into the ground? Pre-start checks done, fire up Number 2 and follow with Number 1. Okay, let's get ourselves to the runway. ATIS rattles off the details and Ground gives the go ahead. Parking brake release and add power. Nothing. Add more power. Nothing. Check in-cockpit parking brake lever: yes, it's off. Add full power. Nothing. Maintain full power and toggle parking brakes. Nothing. Sigh. Immersion, eh? Let's slew to a sealed surface, perhaps the DA-62 can move there. Whoops, I slewed way to far. Sigh. Escape, Main Menu ... tick, tock, tick, tock ... Quit ... tick, tock, tick, tock. Let's try a different aircraft. Do it all again. Press Any Key ... tick, tock, tick, tock ... Flight Simulator crashes. Third time lucky. Surely. The game loads, the aircraft loads (and moves, yay!) and some cloudy weather loads. We're looking great! Meanwhile my coffee is ice cold. Final weather check before departure. One knot. From the west. It's almost always from the west. But it's nowhere near what's actually happening outside, and the wind hasn't been anywhere near 1 kn for many, many hours. Wouldn't it be great if some soul at Microsoft and/or Asobo can tell us when they intend to deliver what they promised.

None of what they said they were making was a promise, to you, me, or anyone else. They didn't sign a legal document with you, or swear a blood oath, they announced a features list, which they said they were going for. If upon release, it would have had everything on the initial features list, it would probably have been the first piece of software ever to have managed that. 🤣 Then COVID-19 hit and really messed up everyone's means to do pretty much everything, some people even died (almost one million people worldwide), or lost loved ones, and many more lost their jobs. But in spite of this they still managed to get a product out more or less when they were aiming for. So knock off the drama queen mode. It's a game, nobody forced you to buy it and in the circumstances, it's remarkable they even managed to get it out the door at all, let alone with a few glitches, which will be sorted. August 31, 20205 yr Interesting. I've been flying for over a week and a half and haven't had the issues you cite, other than load times that allow me to go get coffee just like i could in other sims. Applying power and not moving has happened to me only once and it took a few seconds to figure out I had triggered the Active Pause. It's not obvious since there are no visual indicators that Active Pause is, err, active. But there I was running the throttle up and down with the Icon A5 and not moving in the water. You might want to double-check your controller assignments for that command to make sure it isn't unintentionally bound to another button. Edited August 31, 20205 yr by Stoopy "That's what" - She

I nearly fell asleep reading that, as i've had 3 cups of coffee already that is surprising! Addressing those final points though, it sounds like you are falling victim to 'preset' with the weather. If you have flown before and go to fly again, it probably switched off real weather and went to preset. And the wind.........was this in the US by any chance?

I agree, I enjoyed the post itself, even though I suspect the issues were user related, but not the backhanded end of it, where it not only ignores the difficult circumstances under which the software was produced, which you'd have to have been living under a rock for the past six months to be unaware of, also putting over the impression that we've somehow been betrayed in not getting stuff we were 'promised'. August 31, 20205 yr I think that further escalation to the forum drama was really unnecessary and uncalled for, even though I mostly agree with what Chock wrote. Cheers, Edited August 31, 20205 yr by Dirk98

August 31, 20205 yr Author Don't get me wrong, I think what Asobo and Microsoft has done is absolutely incredible. The visuals are unrivalled, the immersion when flying low and slow with a taildragger is remarkable. However their pre-launch marketing did, prominently, showcase features that may not be entirely present in the initial release. The DA-62 brakes issues is widespread, and to an extent debilitating. The Live Weather is problematic. Massive performance issues with certain aircraft (as in climb rate, power, fuel capacity etc) is embarrassing. At this particular airport – one of the hand-crafted airports – there are glaring issues: parking bays on dirt (which do not exist in real life), building half sinking into the ground, fences stopping aircraft larger then GA from entering areas of the airport where they can go in real life. @Dirk98 Would you prefer it if I dragged it all out in boring grey, perhaps like an accountant would? @Chock 'Backhanded end'? No, simply an opinion, pal. I was involved in the Beta, and liked it enough to buy it. Coronavirus is a valid point, it affected everyone. But it doesn't invalidate releasing a product with such obvious flaws (ahead of their initial projected release date). Of course the game cannot be perfect, software perfection doesn't exist. My wish is simple: tell us when. @Stoopy You raise a good point re the Active Pause, but luckily that was off (I checked). 😋

I think you’ll find cancer isn’t contagious, so might not have quite as dramatic an impact on capacity to produce software when your model is people working together in an office.
