I wonder what the stock levels for the 3000 series cards will be like for the next while? Some rumours knocking around it's going to be very tight until early 2021 which might further buoy the 2000 series prices for a while.

Some suppliers may hike the price of the 3000 series like they did with the 2000 series they know some idiots will pay to be the first, that`s why it`s best to wait more GPU`s are are expected after this release.

I've had my 2080Ti since Nov 2018, and it'll get moved over to replace the 1080Ti in my portable machine if/when I go for a 3090.  So I'm not at all anguished about having spent $1200 on it.

I expect the cryptocurrency miners to be the first in line when the 3000 series hit the retailers, creating an instant product shortage.  MSRP?  Yeah, I'd say add 20%, perhaps even more, and you might be nearing the prices you will see in the retail market.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Finished my 2080 TI build in late July (stupid of me, I know). Card has been RMA'd twice since then, meaning I haven't been able to use it all. Now, they're trying to send me a new one since they can't fix the original, but can't find any stock.

It is simultaneously the best and worst of times for me.

GeForce RTX 3080 Might Become Hard to get - Cryptocurrency Miners Again

Miners that mine Ethereum, as you can see in the screenshot for the RTX 3080 achieves a computing power of 115 MH/s, nearly three times faster than an RTX 2080 that is capable of 35 to 40 megahashes per second.

My main question is : is the Nvidia RTX 3090 Founder Edition a good compromise on cooling/noise vs. the Asus e.g ?

too much, too soon....

Bad news for RTX 2xxx owners wanting to sell their used equipment. For instance, a 2080ti is now $565 new.

Gigabyte x670 Aorus Elite AX MB; AMD 7800X3D CPU; Deepcool LT520 AIO Cooler; 64 Gb G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO DDR5 6000; Win11 Pro; P3D V5.4; 1 Samsung 990 2Tb NVMe SSD: 1 Crucial 4Tb MX500 SATA SSD; 1 Samsung 860 1Tb SSD; Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 1080ti 11Gb VRAM; Toshiba 43" LED TV @ 4k; Honeycomb Bravo.

I am not seeing anything resembling a bloodbath on 2080 Ti cards. Or 1080 Ti cards for that matter. If the 3070 is supposed to be faster than the 2080 Ti for only $499 why am I seeing $399 for 1080 Ti used on eBay? And used 2080 Ti's are going for $700. I think the street is figuring that 3000 series cards will be in very short supply for a while.

Just wait until the 3xxx series hits the street. Many of the 2080ti's on eBay were selling for close to $1000 used prior to the Nvidia annoucement.

Yep....had the pre-launch production had been ramped up to a scale that matched even 10% of the hype Nvidia had to know surrounded this release, there would have been enough of them for real gamers and hard core folks all 2080ti'd-up to grab them and start unloading their ancient, slow, can't have this trash in my gaming rig anymore 2080ti's to us poor folks for $400 or so (I'd predict).

Instead...well we all know they sold out in millisecond's, to bots, for resale on no-way-e-bay....for $10,000 and up...soooo....all those guys are thanking their lucky stars that they didn't panic-sell their perfectly fine 2080ti's and are currently gaming on a pc with no graphics card (I heard the onboard video is great to game with, LOL).

I suspect those same guys will now rage-not-buy the 3080 when it finally is in stock and selling for the MSRP....rationalize the extra cash for a 3090 and hold out for it....ORRRRR.......do what most of us are gonna do now that we've seen leaked and reliable info that a 3070ti 16gb is on the horizon.   THAT is the card that will hit the sweet spot I feel for flight simmers!

In the mean time...if anyone has a 2080ti for $200 in the box...I'll take it off your hands like the guy did in another post (why am I never that guy who gets a deal like that?....well I did get my Titan (Maxwell) several years back for $400 when the mining craze was in full effect, so I guess I'm lucky in that respect)

Steve Dra
