September 7, 20205 yr Yeah, I still have P3D installed. Went in to do a flight and felt sad at the generic textures lack of Autogen. cloud slices flickering against the mountains, the lack luster effects and lighting. You are right, its incomparable. LOOKS WISE. But after getting frustrated as hell trying the Gibraltar A320 high wind land challenge. I tried it in P3D and it felt good and enjoyable. I wasn't getting dizzy from the over done flying in a hurricane even though wind is set at 20 knots and is only 30 degrees off feeling i was getting in MSFS. I wasn't getting the weird wing dip right when your just about to nail a good landing. I wasn't getting overly sensitive pitch controls. Just nice and immersive active sky next effects. I really hope the MSFS wind/turbulence effects aren't something that is going to take time to retool.

September 7, 20205 yr Did we really need yet another useless thread with the same old arguments being tossed to and fro? The forum is cluttered enough as it is ... Oh - and for the record - both P3Dv5 and MSFS still reside on my system, and will for the foreseeable future. September 7, 20205 yr X-Plane 11 is still installed on my system but I just can't be bothered with it for now. For me, as a non-pilot, there is nothing exciting about using a sim for just pressing buttons. This is why I left FSX for DCS years ago. And MSFS bought me back toeh civ flight sim world. For people more interested in procedure simulation, MSFS is not for them right now. FSX | DCS | X-Plane 11 | MSFS 2020 | IL2:BoX Favorite aircraft currently: MSFS Savage Cub
September 7, 20205 yr P3D V4.5, XP11 and MSFS can co-exist in peace on my system. No struggles between them. They actually seem to like each other quite well, despite some of their users might not. I was able to have some successful IFR flights in the modded A320 in MSFS, but it is still not there yet. I still enjoy my FF A320 in XP11 and my PMDG Boeings in P3D for the technical sim aspects, but I never cared for VFR before. This has changed with MSFS which has become my main sim at the moment, just for exploring and flying GA aircraft. It is beyond amazing. For IFR above FL300 it is still pretty good flying in the other sims as the scenary is good enough for that flight level. If IFR gets boring I fly VFR in MSFS and if that gets boring, I fly an IFR route in P3D or XP11. Easy as that. Of course, MSFS has a general impact on my flying: At the moment, f.e., I do not see any reason for upgrading to P3D V5 anymore, as V4 does all I need. For the future we will see what P3D and XP will come up with. My current assumption still remains that I will keep XP as secondary sim, while MSFS will probably become a legit successor of my P3D flying within the next 2 years, once the IFR planes have been released and the current issues are resolved.
September 7, 20205 yr @Will Fly For Cheese Why still on Win 7? Is it because that's the OS you were using with your P3D install and never updated? I'm still on Win7 because FSX:SE works fine with it on my PC as does the other stuff I use my PC for. If I was to switch to FS2020 then I'd need a new more powerful PC running Win 10 anyway.. September 7, 20205 yr Well last week I posted a topic about taking serious flights and got pummeled. Most just did not understand what I was pointing out. I mostly fly with real time purpose. Right now I am flying from location to location based on the MLB Chicago White Sox schedule. Recently flew from Chicago to St Louis for two games, from St Louis to Minneapolis for three games, then from Minneapolis to Kansas City for four games. Now on to Pittsburgh with an enroute stop in Indianapolis. Very purposeful flying. Last week after flying the segment from St Louis to Minneapolis with the Milviz 310 Redux, I loaded MSFS and repeated the flight with the DA62. My first ever purposeful flight in MSFS. As I neared KSTP, St Paul Downtown, I activated the approach. The DA62 turned around and flew to the previous waypoint in the flight plan. Perplexed, I left it alone to see what would happen. It passed that waypoint, RST, and turned toward ALO, the waypoint in the flight plan previous to RST. I screwed around for almost an hour trying to convince the G1000 and AP to instead go toward KSTP and pick up the approach. All to no avail. When it came time to fly from Minneapolis to Kansas City I chose FSX SE and the 310. No issue completing the flight. So then I used MSFS to again fly that route. First event was that after some scenic hand flying to look at the respective St Paul and then Minneapolis cityscapes, the DA62 would not let me go direct to my second waypoint. It started me back to my first, which was back near my departure airport, adding time to my flight. When I neared Kansas City and activated the approach into KLXT, Lee's Summit, I was again turned backwards on the flight plan. Disgusted, I terminated the flight. Today it's Kansas City to Indianapolis, then on to Pittsburgh. It will be back in FSX SE with the 310. Part of this is clearly due to learning curve. Part due to some idiosyncrasies in MSFS and it's G1000. I believe I have figured out what is going on with the route reversals and how to overcome it, but I need to test it out. Meanwhile, I just need to stay on schedule...... Reliably. I have also had some other strange events with MSFS with the DA62 and the 172 (G1000) profiled in other topics here on Avsim. Until MSFS is further refined my purposeful flight schedule will stay on track elsewhere. I do not have time to fly each flight twice just to make sure I am there on time.
