NEW YORK CITY! - Microsoft Flight Simulator - Part 17

Found this and thought it was a good travelogue, as well as a good look at the city at its best using PG in the sim.

Was pretty annoyed when he couldn't help himself by  purposely almost crashing into One World Trade Center "to test the collision boundaries". Dude has no idea just how awful 9/11 was and is a complete fool

I think he does...he just doesn't realize how his testing the boundaries by "grazing the side of the building" could have been very offensive to some...

A complete fool?

He has over 4.39M subs...so i would chance to think that he is doing something right. His MSFS series has some vids with over 500k views...with one over 800k views.

Evan at a low advertisement rate of $3 per 1,000 views....his one 30 min video (of fun) earned him $2,400.

I don't know many "complete fools" who can earn that much doing a 30 min video....

And how many people would you suppose is that curious without intending to be insensitive???  Before you unsubbed, he was at 4.39M subscribers...after you unsubbed, he is at 4.39M subscribers.

Because monetary values and subscriber counts are the measures of whether someone is a crass a-hole or not...not their actual actions 🙄

Well, he apparently heard there was a collision boundary around that particular building.

Humans are curious creatures, and I can see the temptation to test it. (hey, I even stuck my hand in fire as a kid, joining the club of millions of young survivors of the exact same stunt)

He decided not go through with it, but apparently still gets demerits from some for even being tempted.

Fair enough.

But rightly or wrongly though, in the real world, thousands of people (or more!) will likely test this in the privacy of their own homes should they encounter this rumor.

Conspiracy theory... what if the new sim sends flight data to "the authorities" so that people become "persons of interest" depending upon what they do with the sim??

There are many 'Yootoobers' earning massive money and have a huge subscriber base. Doesn't get away from the fact that many of them are utter cocks, this one included.

There is so much Youtube drivel being posted in the past few weeks.  To be expected as the audience and users are now far more expansive.  Crashes and stupid tricks are again the order of the day.  For some reason, being an i-diot in public has become the new cool.

4.39M fools?

Despite being from the UK, I had a close friend who worked for Citibank, who was killed in the terrorist attacks on the WTC on 9/11, in the process making me the active godparent of his daughter. But I am in no way actually 'offended' by people flying aeroplanes near the scene of this incident in flight simulators. I might think they're a bit of an insensitive dickhead for doing so, especially if they then stick it on youtube, but it doesn't offend me. Moreover, I think when a lot of people say they are 'offended' by stuff such as this, what they often really mean, is that they want to be seen to be offended; being offended on other people's behalves, if you will.

Frankly, I find it more offensive that someone from the US - who apparently has been to visit NYC several times - doesn't know anything of the history of the Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World. Particularly given that it is pretty much the commemorative symbol of his nation's birth; celebrating as it does the military allegiance between France and the fledgling US, when it was fighting for independence from Britain. Not to mention being one of the most iconic structures on the entire planet; the idea that someone who benefits from that state of affairs today and has all kinds of educational opportunities by virtue of having been born in the country he was, could not be arsed to learn about it, is embarrassing.

Thus I'd not be inclined to subscribe to his youtube channel, but not because of any offence I'd taken from his flying a toy plane near some pixels which were representing the location of a tragedy, but rather because when someone is that ignor@nt of their own nation's history, I don't imagine there is anything else which they could enlighten me about. After all, few people make the suggestion that all the fighter, bomber, tank, warship, submarine and soldier simulators there are which replicate all kinds of wars all over the world, are 'offensive'. But what would genuinely be offensive, is if we did not learn from these things, by using the opportunities we have to do so when we are fortunate enough to be around in a time where this is very easy to do, and especially if we're gonna make a video about it.

Don't worry. Eventually Cyberpunk 2077 will be released eventually and the mainstream will move on to racking up 800k views on those instead.

LOL!

The list of types of human beings the community openly (And frequently) disparages and looks down upon just keeps getting longer and longer as time passes.

We have gamers of course In all their millions

The press....

You-tubers (those drooling idiots!) except the ones we agree with.

Politicians (generally ones on the left)

And of course, just about anyone under the age of 60 or so, for various reasons.......

Good thing we ourselves are overall so exemplary and superior (you can tell by the unwavering genius of our posts over the years) or the world would probably have gone straight to heck, by now.....  🤔
