We may not have wind but we have clouds

Featured Replies

Anyone notice that now cloud cover is accurately depicted?  The upper level wind problem over the US is still an issue but the hurricane is clearly represented over the gulf, around Florida, and some could cover extending out to Georgia.  This beats the constant clear skies I once saw no matter where I went.  There's no cloud turbulence at this time though and I don't believe strong rain is present...

For me the skies for the most part have been populated with realistic clouds. It has always been the wind that has been the problem. And it's not so much in the upper levels, but actually closer to the ground. Seems that surface winds are most prone to 225/3. It's very noticeable when coming in to land, and when descending through 1500-2000  ft or so, then wind dies down. What happens for you may be different from my experience. I am flying on EU West, and been flying all over the globe (eu N, EU s, africa, asia, south and north america).

Umm yeah the clouds have been working fine since day of release!

Have consistently had good clouds albeit depicted sporadically relative to metars etc. which appears to be more server-side issue(s)

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

strange thing is the clouds move fast if there is strong reported wind with even with the 3/220 wind

I never had issues with live weather clouds. It's been working since day one.

Was expecting some unreal cloud photo. Oh well. Clouds are well depicted. As well as turbulence. But perhaps no cloud turbulence, whatever that is.

I’ve had winds other than 225@3 on several occasions since Aug 18. Hopefully patch will rectify further.

Umm, maybe it's the places I've been flying.  Scattered clouds in the real world were clear skies in the sim almost everywhere I flew.

What's most interesting is that when tuning in ATIS/AWOS the reported weather, including winds, is at least somewhat representative of real time weather, but on a number of occasions the weather environment that is visually present does not match the weather reports.

Has anyone checked ground speed against TAS over time during a flight to see if actual winds in the environment are more representative than what is indicated by the avionics?

Does it take a Hurricane to get a decent rain shower in this sim?🙃

Not for me....  clouds are almost never what is shown on the METAR.  It'll be BKN008 on the METAR and clear in a million in the sim.  I've tried USA west and east servers...no change.
