Consider also the method I suggested in the Tips and Tricks forum. Your method works well if you have buttons assigned to instrument views. My method allows "freezing" any view you are using with TrackIR at any given moment. Both approaches have their pros and cons. Most probably your method is better for IFR, while mine - for VFR. 

I checked your method, seems it works as well without even assigning the TIR recenter, just choose the predefined view with the press on the corresponding button, then pause TIR.

Quick question. I downloaded MSFS last week and tried getting TIR to work yesterday. All seems well inside the Natural Point software, started with my xplane profile and mapped buttons to my yoke for pause and center. Movement looks good. Unfortunately nothing is happening in the sim. When I turn off pause when I’m in the sim, nothing. Am I missing something?  I looked inside the options menu to see if I needed to enable something for TIR and didn’t see anything.

Make sure you start TIR software before starting the sim. Consider to have TIR unpause when starting the sim.

I always check that TIR Pause and Center keys are not assigned to some other controls in a simulator first.

Interesting, I try start TIR after the sim and its working smooth and correctly. I play MSFS on full screen mode, when I spawn in cockpit I use windows key, start TIR and its really work without any problems.

Also make sure to update games in TrackIR (top right on TrackIR screen) if you haven't done that for a while. It will add MSFS to the list of supported titles.

Thanks for the quick replies.  Still no joy with TIR  but updating the game list definitely helped. Thanks Phantoms. Blue light on the TIR lit up immediately as the sim loaded but nothing happened in the sim. When I came out the profile switched to default somehow so I’m thinking that was the issue. Was enjoying the flight up the Oregon coast so much I didn’t feel like troubleshooting it. This sim is gorgeous!

There is an option in the game list to choose what profile trackir uses in that particular game. however even at default profile it should work.

Was the head display in the trackir app moving? maybe it somehow got paused by mistake.

off topic but is there a super quick way to autosave this flight situation right here and now? There used to be for FSX, FS9, etc. (a library file utility that auto saved everything every 30 seconds). You could set it to erase the saved files after 20 or so built up (10 minutes ago). Could be useful when you need to run over to settings inside TiR and change things around.

No autosave, not even FSUIPC Autosave works. But let's not hijack the TIR thread.

Default would have probably worked except I just tried to use the buttons I mapped on the yoke to pause/center. Didn’t even think to use F9 or F12. Will be doing some flights today and hopefully get it sorted. I do need to add the profile to use for MSFS as you mentioned. 

Got it working! Thanks again for the help guys. Now on to control sensitivities and a moving map.

Pretty much the same. Quick use of pause/recenter to freeze the view. Each a/c seems to be a little different  so there isn't a "one size fits all" approach. On some, I just pause TIR and use the hat key to pan to my location. I find most of the time I have TIR off - mainly use it during a turn to final or approach to keep the rwy in view if possible.

I've had most of the time TIR off in MSFS, P3D, XP11 since you explained your views system, was it with CH HOTAS?
