Asobo is supporting MSFS, as their team calls it, not a fantasy name. Thank you for your interesting, although insulting, reply. Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).
October 3, 20205 yr Author 33 minutes ago, Machdiamond said: The original article from La Tribune is behind a paywall, but the beginning of the article is available and I read there that when Asobo talks about 1 million copies sold, they are referring to Plague Tale Innocence and definitely not FS2020. I can see how that could be confusing at first glance because FS2020 is mentioned earlier in the same paragraph. After mentioning a million copies sold, Sébastien Wloch is then quoted as saying that considering the excellent reviews they got, sales should keep going at a good clip, and that is mentioned with a link to a review of Plague Tale Innocence. So there is not doubt he was not talking about FS2020. At least in that non-paywalled section of the article. (edit: I found the complete article on pressreader and confirm the above) Other tidbits from the full article: - About 20 pilots in the team, half of those learned to fly during the development of the game. So they spent a lot of time developing the game around that pilot school experience. - Planning ("à priori" meaning that's the plan) to release new free content once a month on average, and bug fixes regularly. New content will generally be focused on a large new area (continent or large territory) to incentivise pilots to discover it. - Then each quarter new more extensive content (such as airplanes) will be released, but not for free. - Helicopters and gliders coming - "Flight Simulator is going to keep us busy for awhile. At least 10 years, certinaly more. We will keep our 120 employees on this project and expect to even increase that number." Source: https://www.pressreader.com/france/la-tribune-france/20200917/281934545372753 Thanks for the translation! Yeah, this is what I was worried about, and was why I offered the caveat about not being able to confirm with the original article firsthand. When it comes to non-english sources, outlets can sometimes be a bit cavalier with their "translations".
October 3, 20205 yr From the article (between the 18th of August and September 3rd): 26 million flights one was over 10 hours long and more than 7k KM 1.9 billion km flown Favorite aircraft (in order) A320 TBM and CJ4 Favorite place to visit...home
October 3, 20205 yr Sebastian Wloch also adds when asked about future projects, "what is certain is that Flight Simulator will occupy us for a very long time. It's a story that will keep us busy for 10 years, certainly more. We'll keep the 120 employees committed to the project and likely add more." Edited October 3, 20205 yr by airlinejets
October 3, 20205 yr Im glad to hear they will be supporting this beta for 10 years. I hope to be alive until then to see how the actual game looks like.

All this means is that Asobo in a marketting piece say they’ll be around for 10 years. MS Flight devs also had long-term plans. Whether this carries on as a long-term project will depend on sales, including DLC. Those of you who have played Forza Horizon 4 already know how gorgeous that game is. No wonder msfs looks breathtaking. By the way ForzaTech will support Raytracing in Forza 8. Holy CATS that's incredible! It makes the Hangar in MSFS look a bit primitive, but you can see where they got the technology. Makes me wonder what MSFS might look like in 5 years. Thanks for posting that. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

October 3, 20205 yr If they used Forzatech engine, no wonder these reflections blows you away! I mean for me Forza graphics have been very insane and also considers to be Microsoft pride on Xbox. Anyway back to the 10 years project, I don't see any problem to support it, is a legal binding contract and of course, Asobo will work as well on different titles and will shift resources with other title. Of course anything can happen, Microsoft can get bankrupt, the same for P3D whereby LM can get vet bankrupt due to not enough wars.. Or the world comes to an end. In conclusion, let's just enjoy whatever we have now and worry less about the future, you never know what the future is holding for us.
