Yes there is a reason beyond raw perf people have stuck w/ NVidia. I know what you mean about the 3090 but I'm pretty sure 50% of that VRAM will hardly ever be used! Nvidia just screwed up on this one too bad! The 6800xt and 6900xt confirmed at 16 Gb. The 6900xtx VRAM has not been announced. The 6900xtx is targeting the 3090 in performance and will be an AMD-only release (much like the Nvidia Founders Editions). October 26, 20205 yr Yeah I think nvidia lost me with this latest debacle. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
October 26, 20205 yr Be interesting if AMD comes up with something that fills the gap. They could capitalize big time on Nvidia creating all this hype and then not delivering.

October 27, 20205 yr Where are those people that said that Nvidia was powerless to stop scalpers and bots? AMD seems to have figure out how to at least try to stop them.
October 27, 20205 yr I have to wonder if the reason green team pulled the plug on 3070 Super, higher VRAM 3080 etc had to do w/ confidence Big navi will not really compete all that well w/ 3090 nor even 3080 10Gb. Wouldn't many to most 'gamers' not look for more VRAM than 10Gb? Is Nvidia going to release for retail sale more 3090 FE models? October 27, 20205 yr That isn't why they were cancelled. There are a number of Youtube postings from reputable sources that explain why. Apparently Nvidia is panicking for 2 reasons -- the availability issue and botched rollout and the exceptional performance of the new 6xxx series. Nvidia is doing an 'emergency' release of a mid-range variant to combat the 6700/s performance. October 27, 20205 yr Kind of an odd story. With NV being at this for so long it's hard to imagine how they got squeezed by GDDR 6/6X supply issues any more than AMD would, unless AMD locked down a whole bunch of it a while ago. I think I would have a hard time changing to AMD having been w/ NV so long, but I'm open to it. Fortunately the RTX 2070 Super is kind of good enough for the time being--really was hoping for a 3080 20Gb which sounded perfect for MSFS. October 27, 20205 yr To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a shortage of GDDR 6 VRAM unlike the 6X situation. That is one reason that AMD went with GDDR6. October 27, 20205 yr i am more then happy with my rtx3090 compared to my 2 year running old 2080ti, but IF amd shows a faster card then my 3090 i will leave Nvidia and go for the faster card 😂 I am so excited.
