If you were expecting to get either of those cards, you might be in for a nasty surprise. According to two independent sources, as posted by a site that filters the rumours well, the cards were cancelled due to GPU supply and GDDR6X yield issues. The RTX 3070 Ti was also recently reported to be cancelled or postponed due to poor process yields.

Somebody wants us to buy RTX 3090

Those two cards were only fantasies. Easy come, easy go.

As far as the 3080 and 3090 cards and MSFS, there has been no really significant fps advantage shown for the average user in any case.

The only reason to ditch a 2080ti for one of those would have been the extra memory and for possibly better VR performance.

With that gone..

My interest in this new series of cards is significantly diminished.

Well, I def need something considerably more potent than RTX 3070 Super.

Well us 1080ti users pushing 4K displays are looking for a new card. I know dynamic lighting hurts us pretty hard. I’m still going to see what develops down the road.

Was nVidia's premature release simply to preempt AMD's releases? Seems like it.

If they do I'm considering the same. I really want more than 8 VRAM, but don't want to spend as much as the 3080..

I have ridden the Nvidia train for decades, perhaps it has come to the end of the line for me too.

In fairness the benchmarks I saw did in fact show pretty significant gains for the 3080.  However only at 4k resolution.  3090 vs 3080 was very modest though.

It is not too hard to make my RTX 2070 Super hit 100% utilization and hit 8Gb of VRAM in use.  So I'll stop the sim and change settings to cope with that, and that can happen in all sorts of of places, often in transient weather for example, but in other dense scenery areas.  I do run sliders at Ultra because often the hardware can cope quite well.   I was really hoping for a 16Gb 3070 Super or something along those lines.

I hope to heck Big Navi comes thru as both of these cards don't really match MSFS needs well.  3090 is largely VRAM overkill, and 3080 is largely VRAM underkill. 

I agree.  Though I might just be inclined to pay for the 3090.  I know that AMD has a reputation driver wise of not playing nice with flight simulators.
