I have no idea why you would find this not too encouraging. I think it's incredibly encouraging. Most importantly, from a business perspective, they have the cash to hire lots of people, which is a good sign.

They have certainly the cash to hire the people they want, but there might be not enough people available or willing to work for them.

It is not like there are 50 candidates for 1 job in this industry, rather, there are 50 jobs for 1 candidate! 😀

Was curious about how well staffed these guys are, and how quickly they might be able to address all the bugs and issues. Looks like they need a lot of help sadly not too encouraging...

Unless you actually know their staffing levels, their working conditions, their infrastructure and their plans, you can't really infer too much from the fact that a company is hiring. Barring the slim chance there has been a mass exodus of staff (unlikely in the current job climate), it's generally a good indicator for the company's immediate and mid-term prospects if it is taking people on.

Keep in mind too that things at most companies are somewhat in flux thanks to Covid 19. I've already switched jobs twice thanks to the pandemic and I daresay I'm by no means alone in that. Most single positions need to have two or three people to cover them so that illness and holidays can be covered, or if you are deciding to implement shift working that too requires more staff. This among other things could be among the many potential reasons behind the adverts for requiring more staff.

If they were ditching staff on the other hand, now that would be a bad sign.

I note that liking coffee seems to be a prerequisite of most, if not all, of the positions. 😉

That's because they are from 10 years ago. 😅

This coming from an avid X-Plane supporter (fanboi):

Most of the components of the X-Plane scenery and weather are actually a LOT older than that, and it shows!

So getting those to 2020 contemporary levels will be the next big step for X-Plane and something they are working on, appearantly. (But no, it will never have "real" scenery like in MSFS, Laminar Research does not have the data available for that.)

Just as improving on a lot of "serious sim" features will be the next big step for MSFS, and they are planning on working on that, too, appearantly.

Cheers, Jan
