Asobo is hiring for Flight Simulator 2020 dev and testing

Most of the MFS job ads date back more than 6 weeks, for QA testers and R&D devs already 4 months ... too much excitement here for this i think.

Maybe some of the avsim loudmouths can apply.....😎

The base scenery has to be populated with the initial DEM data first.  Then the photogrammetric mesh is applied as a separate mesh, and then the imagery is applied to the photogrammetric mesh.

..then the desire of some users to fly UNDER bridges needs to be catered for...

You should be leading the pack.

So yeah, if the Cessnas handle realistically, the "negative training" part does not apply. I just read somewhere that they had some problems with mixture/high altitude performance, but I guess that was fixed or a misconception.

Hi Jan, have you not given in yet on trying MSFS for a month? It's 1€ if you never used Game Pass and Microsoft even refunds that should you like to cancel within 30 days. Basically a month of full trial at no cost.
With your expertise you could provide a lot constructive feedback

Anyone know the Rate Of Pay for the QA Tester? Not that i know French but would be interested to know if it's worth a change of career with another Dev.

Hi peroni,

no I haven´t tried MSFS yet, I believe that I have a pretty good picture of what it is like so there is no need for me to take a look and I am also firmly in the X-Plane camp and can be surprisingly loyal (stubborn) in things like these 😉

I also do not believe that the devs need any additional pointers - you have to be living under a rock these days to not hear what the community asks for.

Cheers, Jan

So whats your point of even posting over in the MSFS section when you offer no constructive feedback? But I guess you would have to be living under a rock to not realize the agenda here.

If you enjoy the product, don’t become a tester for it.  I worked as a tester for Close Combat 3 the Russian Front and in the MSN Gaming Zone.   Great job. But it ruins the game.  It’s like pulling back the curtain on Oz The great and terrible and realizing he’s a traveling snake oil salesman.

You are painfully aware of every bug.  You know the strengths and weaknesses of everything.  There is no challenge, You find all the hidden exploits and cheats.  And you get sick of looking at it.  The magic is gone.

I’m so happy that the games I tested, I had no real interest in.  It allowed me to enjoy the type of games I enjoy.

And when you passed the offices of the Flight Sim guys, if they weren’t working, on FS2000,  they were kicking each other’s butt “testing” Age Of Empires II or “stress testing” Asheron’s Call, and Allegiance.

I think @Janov post is fine. I post in the p3d forum and I dont have it anymore (stopped at v3). As long as its cordial and not a sim war post I think its fine to post views and thoughts. Sometimes its nice to get viewpoints from the other side too.

The point is you HAD it.  So you had a point of reference for your opinions other than third hand info.  That’s the difference.

And I simply don't see how the hardcore niche market is deep enough for such an investment.  People might accuse MS for "dumbing down" it's product or simply dismiss it as a game, but at least they have the intelligence to know that without the "casual simmer" there is no way this thing breaks even ...but remember that it's the "gamer" who's buzzing the Space Needle in Seattle or flying down 5th Avenue in Manhattan at rooftop level in the TBM, that's paying the bills, not the guy flying a Cat 3 approach into JFK using Vatsim.  That's just simple numbers folks.

So to conclude your statement: The casual gamers give Microsoft the income they need, for financing the real-timescenery. That`s not wrong, after all real-time scenery does cost a lot of money. But I think there is no need to praise the gamers for that. I suppose that real time scenery has to be captured with expensive and complex equipment, the process of implementing this complex data in 3D space is another one.

(By the way, integrating this data to a DirectX 3d environment is as easy as importing a step file to a CAD software. Nothing complex here.) But sitting on a chair in front of PC for gaming and even claiming we should be thankfully for gamers like you, shows how far we have come. I`m not intelligent, but I defenately know that a game has to be produced. There is no need to praise you and others for gaming, nor can anyone create a game at the moment by gaming.

I guess I feel the need to post whenever X-Plane is mentioned in this forum 🙂 So if you can chastize those folks that mention X-Plane and keep them from doing so, I will promise to stay out of these forums!

I think, however, that looking over the "edge of your plate" as we say in German is beneficial to any platform. This definitely does include X-Plane users taking an interest in any other simulation offering and vice versa.

Usually the people that fear comparison do so because they fear coming out inferior 😉

Cheers, Jan
