The latest release is really amazing for me....

I agree. This is the first update where I feel that we have moved forward, and significantly so. I am very happy, sim is looking better than ever.

My only gripe relates to the update is the poorly implemented metric/hybrid option that has been added. Seems they rushed it and I really hope Asobo will give these more time as outside the USA, the majority of the world uses a hybrid-metric system. FSX and P3D had correctly managed the hybrid system so it has to be possible. I will file a report on this with Zendesk, hope others do to.

Well, now we get to be beta testers. However, we have no guarantee that even if Asobo spent 2 more months with this in the backlog that it would release in any better state. At least now the cat's out of the bag and we can give them feedback they can act upon.

In my case, yes no mods, tweaks, liveries, etc.  I only use peripheral devices that MS stated they support from pre-launch.  I have two planes from the Market place, but otherwise just virgin MSFS.

edit:  my flight sim pc is only for flight sim, so there would be no potential for corruption from that point of view either.

I believe (sadly) this is the way for the foreseeable future, keep your install as virgin as possible - not even going to bother with the A320 FBW mod. At least until we get a stable platform with a core that no longer needs changing. Otherwise, as I've said previously, it's going to be like ETS2 and the expanded ProMods map - constantly chasing tails when the update breaks the mod, waiting for the mod to be updated then rinse and repeat when the core game gets changed.

The only content I would even contemplate adding at this stage would be official DLC from the in game store as hopefully that will be adjusted to work with any update concurrently (though with Asobo who knows!).

There was nothing in the release notes about changes to AI traffic? Placebo?

Could be, but the skies seem way more active. Maybe a change to something else had an impact?

After having to change a few settings (like after almost every update)....I agree....best performance and visuals I have had yet.....

Me too. Absolutely wonderful update. Everything looks soooo good. I had one CTD on going straight in to a flight from the update process. Restarted the PC, shoved in some fresh coal - faultless experience since.

Thank you Asobo! Nice one!

Same here all good so far .
Is it just me or did I notice more action when it comes to live traffic????

Image removed as image is no longer available.

I feel sorry for the people experiencing CTDs and other issues, but yeah, so far it is really a nice update in my case. Night lighting is a lot better, sharpness is increased with new TAA with no FPS loss, autopilots are a lot better and the 787 is finally flyable.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

Mod folder full of liveries. Tried the neo mod dev build. All stable, i am keen to just start doing 1 on 1 support with users having crashes to see how their sims are setup. I run everything with live and play daily and only times i have hit a wall are when i mess with the sdk for scenery developing. I dont even run a high end system and this update boosted my frames from a hovering 38fps on average to 49fps with that sweet sweet eye candy popping off.

This has been a FRICKEN HUGE STEP in the right direction for me

I’m running most settings on ultra with a 200 LOD

pre patch I’d get between 30-45fps and now it’s a 45-60fps

best of all the buildings and trees are rendering way further in advance; the scenery with the new TAA is crisp and clean and the game is running way smoother

i noticed 1 of my 6 cores now runs at a pretty constant 100% and my gpu is running at 90% in built up areas.  Pre patch the CPU was up and down between 85-100 and my GPU was pretty constant around 80%

So the game is working my system harder BUT the results are WAY better and smooooth.  Feels like they have made a big  optimisation leap

i feel bad for those that are have a negative experience ☹️

im running an 8700k slightly overclocked with a 1080ti and 32 g of ram

This is the only thing I'm not keen on and prefer the old implementation of TAA. I'm finding things over-sharpened now, and maybe because I'm using a 1080p res, which is making edges seem a little jagged. I may see what it's like with sharpening turned off in the cfg, which was too soft before.  Otherwise I'm happy with this new release.

When you posted this the Flybywire mod was back up and running near perfectly - you just had to download the dev release which I think is what most people are running anyway as it is so stable.

I noticed it too. It seems like other planes are easier to see, so maybe they made them bigger from a distance?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the work they are doing but we need Asobo to get the sim to a state where it is stable enough that you can install any mod (or add on) not just FBW with confidence that you are not going to need to update it every time the core sim changes. That's one of the reasons I pretty much gave up using mods in ETS2 and ATS, sticking with official content only. Yes I know, my loss and choice etc.

There's a difference there, I have yet to see the working title or FBW team take less than 24 hours to fix after patch, whereas ProMods for ETS usually take months due to the nature of the changes.

That is probably a year away.
