AIG AI Manager OCI for MSFS – Development Announcement

Featured Replies

Ok so Ive set up my two new accounts at flightsim.com and AIG but after reading the bug list i going to wait a little longer to install.

Asobo needs to fix that altitude bug before i jump on.

I also am curious to know what happens to the traffic.bgl file  when aig is installed and how/if  is it restored if i want to uninstall it.. A forumer on here is stating that his file got borked.  I'm not keen on modding or deleting core files (if it gets moved into a safe spot then fine).

Also would like to know if it is possible to put the folder that usually gets dropped into the community folder somewhere else and link it via addon linker instead.

Just go back a couple of pages, Kaii extensively described what happens to that traffic.bgl file

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

AIG manager has stopped loading for me so would like to reinstall it - but not have to go through downloading all the FPs again. Is this possible, are the flight plans stored somewhere that I can cut and paste into the new install location?

Stuck on "load oci data"? Kill it via the task manager, try again, rinse and repeat until it works. That is a workaround for now. All flight plans / models / liveries are saved in the community folder, "aig-oci-beta".

Thank You for letting me know that it was addressed and where to find it.

Saw his response. I always play the long game with these things and no matter how much i want to have a decent representation of AI for this sim i don't think the solution as explained is for me atm (Paranoid cautious). Yes, It results in me missing out on the fresh and brand new addons and i literally only have two addons (A320NX/TurboBonanza) for the sim after a year but i can also count on 1 hand how many CTD's and issues Ive had in that same year and in most cases can figure out exactly what caused it. So ill sit this out till post Service Update 7 and see if more bugs get squished.

In the mean time Ill keep tabs on the topic and issues/resolutions so i know what im in for when i finally install it a little later on.

Thanks for the info though I will say it is a very promising start !

Cheers

You don't have to do anything with that file, just set AI traffic to off and you are good. I didn't do anything to that file, it is still original and AIG works perfectly nonetheless. I don't even know why one should disable that file.

1. I am only pretty much interested in the model matching .. so i will need the AI to be on.

2. Also .. reading Kaii's response the file is either renamed or deleted.. I would prefer a more elegant solution (backup saved and put back when uninstalled is an option) and he alluded to that needing a better solution in his comments which i copy and pasted below.

"Regarding the trafficAIrcraft.bgl:

AIM is only renaming the file if you allow it on startup. If you remove it via the Manager as "delete" from the list, it will be removed fully from the harddrive, this is done after you have agreed to let AIM remove the file. AIM is not removing/modifying any default files without asking you before! So if you are not sure waht might happen click "no" and ask other users 😉 Based on the feedback regarding this file I will plan some other solution that will be added hopefully be fore SU7"

3. There is still the AI altitude bug on Asobo's side that needs to be addressed.

4. I still need to know about the Addon linker option instead of dropping the liveries folder directly into the community folder.

Not trying to be a hard word not allowed. I fully recognize and really appreciate the effort put into this and it's a completely a take it or leave it proposition. The Developer is under no obligation to fix/address any of these concerns but as i said .. i am very cautious about what gets installed and the manner of how it is installed on my system and until i am comfortable  i have no issues waiting.

Hope you understand.

Thanks

You quoted it yourself: You do not have to rename or delete it, just click "no".

That's not my understanding of it. The program is going to ask you can say no to delete but can you also say no to it being renamed ?

Then there would be no need to "fix" anything as the developer stated he needed to do right ?

So tell me the ramifications of when i press no ? Do i get a mixture of generic AI stuff that i don't want ? Why is there even an option to completely delete a core sim file from existence in the first place instead of moving it to a neutral location ?

Additionally I'm not quite sure why you feel the need to pursue this one issue when Ive clearly stated MULTIPLE issues that i need addressed...

All I can tell you is, that I said no and everything works perfect. No generic AI stuff at all. File is still called as before, untouched.  @Kaiii3 can surely tell you if one really needs to do this and why I apparently don't need it, because I have no idea.

I don't feel any need to pursue, I just wanted to help you out and alleviate your concerns; your attitude is really weird. Have good day, too.

Apologies if you think theres an issue with my attitude. However, I made my decision a few posts ago that i would NOT participate in the beta and wait based on the developers statements about the file AND the other bugs and questions that i have. No amount of "assistance/insistence" on only one of those issues would change my mind and ive tried to impart to you already politely that FOR ME it is a showstopper but you insist on saying its a non issue while at the same time ignoring the rest of the issues afore mentioned. So yeah the attitude will change accordingly

Bottom line. The developer acknowledges that the issues of concern has to be looked at .. I am going to wait ..

Again .. thank you for your help.

I have tried it now, there is a lot of bugs, but it looks promising.

Hitting no doesn't delete or rename it, but every time you launch the app it will ask if you want to do it.

I believe the prompt is because the app can also used for P3D where that same file could interfere with with AIG's traffic.

Which ones?

I’m sure you don’t need him to explain which ones. There are a ton. Planes doing donuts for starters. Not to mention go arounds…. The list goes on and on….

And I believe he wanted to know this:-

4. I still need to know about the Addon linker option instead of dropping the liveries folder directly into the community folder.

I saw that the program had create a folder in the main map of my game (Steam), it was called something like #PC# and seemed to contain aircraft models, I have not read anywhere that the program shall create this folder? can I remove it without risk in the event of an uninstallation?

System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

I have a question regarding the traffic.

Why is TC even required????

Why can't AIG just compile a trafficAircraft.bgl file to replace the default one in the sim and then all we have to select is offline traffic within MSFS. I think that would root out a lot of the problems right there. Why must AIG inject traffic when it could simply have a traffic file that MSFS reads natively? Please explain what I'm missing.
