It's never been done since FS2002 even with the current version P3D and I doubt it will be done in foreseeable future. The AI engine is 20+years old with some minor adjustments that had been made during FSX and P3Dv4 phases

The number of aircraft being told to expedite in MSFS is far in excess of what happened in P3D / FSX (it will saturate the airwaves in a reasonably busy area) and it was a bug introduced in a previous patch so I’m holding out hope.

I heard nothing last night with it turned off, aside talking to me that is, perhaps it was a glitch or something.

Same here, when I set AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC TYPE to OFF. I haven't heard any ATC at all.

Also try these settings:

Traffic Type:Off

Airport Vehicle Density Off

What happens with vehicle density off?  What replaces it?  I use LVFR  and it is great.

My instance of MSFS is notorious for losing connection to Azure's ATC servers. 90% of the cases it happens 20 minutes into the flight or some time in the middle. Apparently a known issue and a bug reported to Asobo. Last evening, I had so much traffic and chatter at SFO, that I lost the connection still on the ground in San Fran, way ahead of take off. I am not sure how this technology works with Asobo, but I am beginning to believe that this may be something their servers may not be ready for? The amount of chatter was insane. I'm going to observe this now and see if it continuously happens in busy airports and whether I have to dial the slider down a bit.

Does the in-game ATC work with the AI planes from AIG?

Yep, no issue there apart from not having ANY outbound activities. That's the first thing I tested.

Since AIG is in an early public beta at the moment. How will the updates for the plane models work? Such as adding newer plane models, adding additional features to the AI such as improved sounds, lights, etc. Will the updates be applied automatically or do we have to manually redownload the flight plans all over again?

You will be notified if there is a new / updated model when you open AIM. If the model has not been there before, you will be able (not forced) to update your flightplans to include that new model. No need to download the whole flightplan again, though.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Yep, that's the cool part about AIM. Fire it up, check the online navi tab and if there are new entries it means there's something new about that package. New flight plan, repaint or a model.

Last night at LAX I saw 4 or 5 liners head[ng to the active runway, but only one of them talked with  ATC. Is there a trick to get more? Does it depend on your own plane's interaction with ATC?

I usually just spawn in at a remote parking space, start the plane so I can hear the ATC and explore with the drone.

Any ATC interaction is Asobo default. No idea what bugs are present there. You probably never noticed the issues because AI either didn't leave the gate at all before or there was just not enough traffic to see 4 airliners going to the runway before.

Is anyone getting a random crashes where TC just closes or the other thing I’ve had where the aircraft disappear but no crash?

For me, it seems to have gotten more stable since I added more airlines.

That's probably why I'm not getting any audio from the in-game ATC. I start the sim at a gate and so my plane is off in a cold and dark state. So I have to start the plane up in order to hear ATC while in drone mode?

Brian, it seems that the latest AIM version (1.1.0.42) fixes the loop issue!
Give it a try, fingers crossed!!
