December 21, 20205 yr So I have reached out to the site in question but for some reason I can o longer log in to post in the forums. Am I missing something here or is the same file being offered for free on Flightsim.to "for sale" for $20 on another site? Am I missing something? https://store.flightsim.com/product/mkvy-productions-egkk-gatwick-for-msfs/ https://flightsim.to/file/2774/gatwick-airport-egkk Aren't these the same? Looks like they're exactly the same. I downloaded the freeware Gatwick yesterday from Flightsim.to. Hopefully this won't become a tendency. We have seen another case the past week (Fall Season at SimMarket, now apparently removed from Flightsim.to). December 21, 20205 yr last week i called him out on it by asking him how bad someone must feel when they have just spent $20 on a addon to find out its free, plus its not worth $20 as its early access and still uses the default runway, taxi way and ingame parking charts
December 21, 20205 yr This is precisely why I only buy from the same few reputable sellers I have been for years. For MSFS, I don't plan on buying any sceneries unless it is developed by one of the top tier developers, such as Flightbeam, FlyTampa, FSDT, LatinVFR etc. I did download that the "free" Gatwick several weeks ago from Flightsim.to. December 21, 20205 yr I have absolutely no problem with a freeware dev going payware....the issue is, like most mentioned, when the title is still available as freeware when also being sold as payware at the same time. Now...if the payware version is going to have more features than the freeware version, than that is a good reason to have both available at the same time...as long as its clearly stated on the site promoting the freeware that "this version will no longer be supported nor get updates...please visit payware store for the newest, paid version" or something like that. Conversely, the payware site should also mention in the literature that a unsupported freeware version is available. I think the most important thing (other than a good freeware contributor making some real money off his hard work), is that the developer fully understands and is totally committed to the commercial endeavor he/she just entered into. Such as creating an LLC right off the bat, doing all the financial stuff necessary to run a business (because that is what it is now). He should also be prepared to offer full support for his product(s), have a business plan, have a documented work schedule, a milestone chart for each product, have a separate, insured, and fully backed up (with redundancy) WORK PC completely separate from his "play" PC. This PC should also have a full tech support contract for repairs/issue support in case "things" happen as they tend to do with PCs. 🙂 Should he decide to change nothing as listed above, continue to operate as a freeware entity, but delve in the world of commercial software development and sales, there will be......issues. 😞 I wish every freeware dev the best of luck should they decide to take it to payware....I just hope they understand all that is involved in running a successful "Business". December 21, 20205 yr They do indeed look the same, but the info on the two links shows they are different file sizes. One is listed as 1.0 GB, the other is 867.71 MB, unless the 1 Gb one is just rounded up. Edited December 21, 20205 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

December 21, 20205 yr Hi, Yes, its me, i am the creator of this mod. And you are all correct, its way too complicated to start doing it this way.. I'm updating the scenery so often, no body can keep up.. So i am pulling out of the vending idea and the 2 purchases that were made will be refunded ASAP.. It has to be one or the other... so i'm just going the freeware way, Look out for update V7.9 coming soon at flightsim.to and Nexus

However as I said to him before here, those seasons mods are just too expensive, one season costs like 12usd (means over 40usd for all seasons) meanwhile these features are coming next year to the sim anyway. I am all for supporting for freeware developers but it has to be at reasonable price.
